7:45pm: Empoli v Roma
Empoli to Win
It’s the final day of Serie A and La Liga on Sunday so we had to put together a tidy five-fold acca for you lot didn’t we!
First up is Empoli v Roma in Italy, which sees 18th host sixth. The home side are fighting to avoid relegation and a win on Sunday night could see them keep their spot in Serie A next season depending on other results.
Just three points separate Empoli and Cagliari in 15th so the home side have to go for it to have any hope of staying up.
Roma are set to finish sixth in Serie A – and secure Europa League football for next season – so it’s hard to see them being up for it like Empoli will be. The home crowd will be roaring on their side and with Roma potentially already on the beach, we’ll back Davide Nicola’s side to get the three points.
7:45pm: Frosinone v Udinese
Under 2.5 Goals
From one relegation decider to another now as Frosinone in 16th host 17th-placed Udinese. If Empoli beat Roma on Sunday and Udinese fail to win, Fabio Cannavaro’s side will be in Serie B next campaign.
We’re expecting a cagey affair with fans in the stadium checking the Empoli v Roma result every few minutes.
Due to what’s on the line, both sides will play conservative (unless Empoli go ahead against Roma) so we’re unlikely to see much action so backing Under 2.5 Goals makes plenty of sense.
The selection has landed in Udinese’s last four league outings and in three of Frosinone’s last four games. That trend should continue on Sunday night.
7:45pm: Verona v Inter
Over 2.5 Goals
Next up is the dead rubber between Verona and Inter Milan. The away side have already been crowned Serie A champions after going unbeaten in 35 of their 37 games this campaign, while Verona are safe from relegation and they can finish 13th at best.
Instead of picking a result, we’ll side with Over 2.5 Goals. Inter’s games this season have averaged around three goals and with both teams playing with freedom, we could see a free-flowing match.
Verona’s last three league games have had three or more goals and Inter have quality throughout their squad. There has to be goals.
7:45pm: Lazio v Sassuolo
Lazio -1
We’ve got another dead rubber as the already-relegated Sassuolo travel to Lazio, who are set to finish seventh unless they can overturn a 10-goal swing with Roma to finish sixth.
Sassuolo have won just seven of their 37 games this season and they’ll be in Serie B next campaign and although they might play better with the shackles off, Lazio should have too much quality.
Lazio are unbeaten in their last seven in all competitions and they’ve won their last four home games with an aggregate scoreline of 8-1. It’s not worth backing them to win at the odds, so we’re all over Lazio -1 on the Handicap.
8pm: Sevilla v Barcelona
Barcelona to Win & Over 2.5 Goals
Finally, we’re heading to Spain for the final day of La Liga as Barcelona travel to Sevilla. Xavi’s side are guaranteed to finish second behind champions Real Madrid, while Sevilla could finish 11th in the table with a convincing win.
No one knows whether Xavi will be in charge of Barcelona next season after he announced he was leaving this summer before making a U-turn. Either way, the Nou Camp hero will want to secure a win just in case it’s his final match in the dugout.
Barcelona should have too much quality for their rivals and they’ve won four of their last five league games, while scoring 13 times in the process. Sevilla, meanwhile, have lost their last three and they’re desperate for the season to end.
Barcelona to Win is the obvious pick but we’re adding in Over 2.5 Goals to boost the odds. Barcelona’s games are averaging 3.2 goals, while Sevilla’s tally is 2.7. That’ll do us!
