Man United v Arsenal
Sunday, 4:30pm, Premier League game at Old Trafford, Manchester
TV: Sky Sports Main Event, Premier League
The Crystal Palace game felt like “a moment” for United. People will remember that game and result for a long time.
It probably means that Erik ten Hag will lose his job at the end of the season, which is unfortunate for him because I don’t think anyone is going to go in there and really change things straightaway.
It looks like there’s been a lack of respect for the manager from the players for a while there. The players there are just not performing. And some of the signings they’ve aren’t up to it.
The body language and lack of motivation are things that have been talked about for a long time, but Man United look like a massive rebuild from top to bottom.
The trouble is they need to get a lot of players out. In the summer they’ll sign more too, but you have to wonder why anyone is going to United now?
You’ll have to pay them over the odds to get them ahead of other top teams, and then you’re left wondering are they just there for the money or do they want to win?
So there’s a lot of problems for anyone coming in if Ten Hag goes. It feels like the whole philosophy of the club needs to change.
And obviously none of it bodes well for them playing Arsenal on Sunday.
They are top of the league ahead of the weekend. Man City have a game in hand and I think most people expect them to win them all, but Arsenal have been unbelievable this season whatever happens.
Look at the goal difference even, they’ve just scored so much.
For the sake of the league, it might be better if Arsenal win it. It’d be something different and they’ve been phenomenal.
I see them pushing City down to the wire, and ff City were to drop points before the final day – they have Fulham this weekend, then Spurs away on Tuesday before the final day with West Ham at the Etihad – it would be a test for Arsenal.
Last year, they fell away and people accused them of “bottling it”, but this time around there’s no sign of that. They’ve learnt from last year and if City slip up Arsenal will take their chance.
Arsenal to win
That has to start with a win on Sunday.
Arsenal have been a class act since Christmas and have way too much for United in the shape they are in.
I can see United maybe nicking a goal but this will be comfortable for the visitors.
Kai Havertz to score
Martin Odegaard’s a real contender for player of season and should enjoy the space United having been giving opposing midfielders on Sunday.
That should work out well for Kai Havertz too who has been scoring a lot recently and I fancy him to net another in this.
DON’T FORGET – Paddy’s Super Sub means that if your player selection goes off, your bet rolls on to their replacement – magic!
Bukayo Saka to be fouled 1 or more times
Bukayo Saka’s a real handful for any defence, let alone one as injury-struck as United’s backline.
He should be fouled at least once in the game as they try to handle him.
Alejandro Garnacho to have 1 or more shots on target
Despite the turmoil at United there are some pluses this season, among them Alejandro Garnacho.
He’s scored goals and been a threat to opponents after forcing his way into the team and is likeliest to cause problems for Arsenal on Sunday.
Casemiro to be shown a card
Casemiro’s always likely for a booking and his performance against Palace out of position would suggest he’s a good bet here.
