Fulham v Man City
Premier League match at Craven Cottage, London
TV: TNT Spots, Saturday, 12:30pm
Manchester City can overtake Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League with the Gunners in action on Sunday when they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United. Fulham are winless over their last three and that’s unlikely to change here. We’ve dug into the Players markets in search of three value bets for our Super Sub Special.
If you’re unfamiliar with PP’s Super Sub offer, you can read more about it here but here’s the basics: if you back a player in certain markets and he’s substituted, your pick is transferred to the oncoming player.
Phil Foden Anytime Goalscorer
Phil Foden drew a blank in Manchester City’s 5-1 over Wolves last weekend, but he has scored a hugely impressive seven goals in his last six league appearances. The England forward has scored 11 league goals since the turn of the year, while his tally of 16 league goals for the season has already eclipsed his previous best return of 11 league goals. Foden is a frontrunner for player of the year and is good value to add to his impressive tally on Saturday afternoon against a Fulham side who will be on the proverbial beach.
Marco Silva’s side have been assured of their safety for quite some time and have won just once in seven games since the international break, while they have managed just one clean sheet in that spell as well. Fulham, who were filmed flying kites at their training ground during the week, will find it difficult to pick themselves up mentally for Saturday’s clash with City, even if they do want to put on a show for their fans in what is their last home game of the season.
City could run up a big score on Saturday and Foden stands a good chance of finding the back of the net.
Rodri Anytime Assist
Rodri has earned a reputation for setting the tempo at the base of City’s midfield and for putting out fires in the middle of the park. However, his attacking contribution is often overlooked. Scorer of the winning goal in the Champions League final last season, Rodri has found the back of the net on eight occasions this season, while he has delivered 12 assists in all competitions, the second-most of any City player.
The Spanish midfielder has recorded nine league assists this season – the most of any City player – and creates over 1.3 chances per 90 minutes. Rodri registered two assists in the win over Wolves last weekend and has registered five assists in his last ten City appearances. He is a very attractive choice at the current odds.
Rodrigo Muniz to have 1 or more Shots on Target
City seem to be remorselessly marching to a fourth title in succession, winning six games on the spin since a draw with Arsenal in March, but they have not been exactly convincing at the back. Pep Guardiola’s side have conceded in four of this six games, facing 15 shots on target at a rate of 2.5 per game.
Fulham may not be at their sharpest at the moment, but they still could produce some moments to get their fans out of their seats. Rodrigo Muniz is by far the most likely Fulham player to cause City a problem or two. The Brazilian is Fulham’s top scorer with nine league goals, while his average of 3.0 shots per game is almost twice that of any other player at the club.
If any Fulham player is going to test Ederson on Saturday, it is likely to be him.
