Arsenal v Bournemouth
Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, London
TV: TNT Sports, Saturday, 12:30pm

Over 3.5 Goals

Bournemouth are not the same team as the one that went down to a 4-0 home defeat against Arsenal earlier in the season. Andoni Iraola’s side failed to win any of their opening nine games but now find themselves in the top ten and will pose a significantly sterner challenge for Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal, meanwhile, avoided a catastrophic collapse against Tottenham last week and would have almost certainly ended the season with a whimper if they had thrown away a three-goal lead against their North London rivals.

That win has kept the Gunners in the title race and there will no doubt still be nerves as they aim to put Manchester City under pressure. They have been almost flawless defensively in 2024 but have conceded two goals or more in three of their last six games in all competitions.

Bournemouth will provide a real test for this somewhat wobbly Arsenal defence, with the Cherries finding the back of the net in each of their last ten games, scoring 19 goals. They may not win 4-0 again, but there could easily be at least four goals on Saturday afternoon if Bournemouth can breach the Arsenal rearguard.

Bournemouth to Receive the Most Cards

Only Manchester City boast a better disciplinary record than Arsenal this season. Arteta’s side have collected 54 bookings and two red cards in 34 league outings this season, a significantly better record than Bournemouth’s record of 71 yellow cards and three sending offs.

The Cherries also average the most fouls per game in the league this season, averaging a whopping 13.4 fouls per 90 minutes.

Arsenal, by contrast, average just 10.3 fouls per game. All signs indicate that Bournemouth will concede the most fouls and receive the most cards in the Saturday afternoon kickoff.

Kai Havertz to have 2 or more Shots on Target

It is difficult to gauge Kai Havertz’ debut season in an Arsenal shirt. Much maligned for his performance over two legs against Bayern Munich, Havertz’s return of 12 goals from 34 league appearances is by no means anything to write home about.

And yet, the German forward has scored crucial goals for the Gunners this season, most notably in last week’s North London Derby win and in the 0-1 win at Brentford earlier in the season.

Havertz has scored three goals in his last two appearances and scored from the penalty spot in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth earlier in the season. He averages 1.7 shots per game and is likely to be confident ahead of Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth. He is decent value to find the target at least twice.

Over 11.5 Corners

Saturday sees a meeting between two clubs who have won more corners than almost every other club in the Premier League. Arsenal’s tally of 244 corners in 34 games (over seven per game) is the third-highest in the league behind City and Liverpool, while Bournemouth’s tally of 226 in 35 (6.5 per game) is right behind them in fourth.

It is hardly surprising that Arsenal’s corner count is so high, considering how effective they are from set pieces, while they also average 17 shots per game, the third-highest in the division. They are likely to meet their average of seven per game, especially if Bournemouth hold out for a while or take a shock lead.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, boast the seventh-highest shots per-game rate in the league and will almost certainly win some corners of their own.

Bournemouth to have 3 or more Shots on Target

Arsenal have rightfully earned a reputation for being rock solid at the back, but there have been faint signs of a few jitters since the international break. The Gunners have faced ten shots or more in four of their seven games since the return of club football. In contrast, they faced 10 shots or more in just of their eight league games in 2024 before the international break.

Whatever the cause for this uptick in shots faced, Bournemouth will take some hope that they can cause Arsenal damage at the Emirates. The Cherries average an impressive 14.3 shots per game, averaging five shots on target. They might just give Arsenal a few problems to solve.
