Luton Town v Everton
Premier League match at Kenilworth Road, Luton
TV: Sky Sports Main Event, Friday, 8:00pm

This is a must-win game for Luton Town, who are one point behind Nottingham Forest in the Premier League table. With Forest set to play Sheffield United on Saturday, it’s essential that Luton win and leapfrog them. Everton are now safe from relegation and have four wins in their past five games, something only Man City have bettered.

Luton to Win

It’s not easy to pick Luton to win given that they’ve lost five of their past six Premier League games but it’s a matter of motivation. This is an Everton team who have secured safety and know that they’ll remain in the Premier League next season. They have nothing to play for whereas Luton are fighting for their lives.

With Nottingham Forest a point ahead of Luton, and playing a hopeless Sheffield United side on Saturday, it’s essential that Luton overtake them by beating Everton here. With just two games remaining after this weekend, they simply must win this game.

Luton Half Time

No team in the Premier League has been worse in the first halves of games away from home than Everton. They’ve gone into the interval of just one of their 17 away games holding a lead. The next worst teams, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest have double that.

We’ve also seen Everton score just five first-half goals when they’re away from Goodison Park, which again is another low. They’ve routinely been awful early in games away from home and there’s no reason to think that’s changed here.

Both teams to Score, No

If Luton are to win then they probably need to keep Everton goalless. That seems like a tough ask for a team who have won four of their past five but there’s a lot of hope for Luton fans.

As good as the last few weeks have been for Everton this is a team who have scored fewer goals than anybody not named Sheffield United in the Premier League this season. They’ve scored just 37 goals in 35 games, that’s fewer than both the other relegation candidates Forest and Burnley and 11 goals fewer than Luton themselves.

Ross Barkley to Score or Assist

It’s time for Luton’s best player to step forward and make a statement as the team battles relegation. Ross Barkley, a former prodigy at Everton, has had a redemptive season. At times looking like the player we all believed he’d become when he broke through at Goodison Park.

There’s no time to lament Barkley’s career here, so let’s focus on his nine-goal contributions this season, with five goals and four assists in 30 games. There’s nothing the 30-year-old would like more than to score in front of the fans who used to cheer his name and if anybody on this Luton team can create something special to break the deadlock then it’s Barkley.

Albert Sambi Lokonga to Commit 1 or more Fouls

The final leg of our Bet Builder is for Albert Sambi Lokonga to commit one or more fouls. The Belgian midfielder hasn’t played as much as he or Luton would have liked this season but he’s been good when on the field and is set to play in this game.

Over 14 Premier League games, he’s averaged 1.1 fouls committed per game. Given the importance of this game, it’s going to be tough-tackling and tense, the perfect situation for a foul to take place. This market is also covered by our Super Sub rule, giving us an extra bit of security.
