Now, I watched a lot of WWE going up. It was technically WWF, but that ages me and let’s face it animal welfare is more important. The one thing I took from it apart from the fact that Stone Cold Steve Austin had an awful taste in beverage is that, eventually, all good guys let you down and all villains have a turnaround.
When you read the headline of this piece, it might seem a very unusual intro but let me very quickly compare Paris Saint-Germain to Triple H. For a long time, the Qatari money was the biggest moral deterrent people had to PSG. They just signed plays willy-nilly, compiling stars but hilariously never putting it together.
Now, we’ve enter hyperspace with Manchester City and all of a sudden, PSG are the good guys we’re all cheering for because their plethora of players need to have their story finished. This is far from WrestleMania, merely Survivor Series, but given Dortmund are yesterday’s choice of hipsters worldwide, the narrative swing on this tie is incredible.

These two are streets apart in their quality and everyone would have been pining to draw Dortmund had they gotten to this point.
Not only are they weak enough domestically, but their home form is appalling. They’re going to finish fifth in the league, went out on a whimper in the Pokal (der Pokal, bitte) and despite finishing top in the group stage, in a group that featured PSG, they failed to beat them in either game.

All four quarter-final legs featuring these two saw Over 2.5 goals landing, and 6-4 and 5-4 aggregates only paint half the picture, too. It could have been doubled, particularly when you consider the quality of Barcelona’s possessional focus, and Atletio Madrid’s defensive solidity.

This might seem like a high number, but Gregor Kobel has been forced into relentless action throughout this campaign, and given PSG’s shoot-on-sight policy, he could easily maintain that level.
Throughout his nine Champions League starts, he made thirty-four saves, including seven in the games against PSV and the first leg against Atleti. Expect a similar situation here.
Kylian Mbappe to have 1 or more Shots on Target in Each Half
I understand that shots don’t always translate to being on target, but a willingness to shoot is a bigger indicator of future shots on target than just the raw number in and of itself. Kylain Mbappe took seven shots against Barcelona, ten over the two legs, and has taken fewer than three shots on just one occasion in the competition this season.
Manuel Ugarte to Commit 3 or more Fouls
PSG are so used to maintaining possession that Manuel Ugarte’s role is often redundant in Ligue Un but he gets thrown into the deep end in Europe and constantly has to hack breakers when their full backs overlap.
Look at their games against the two teams who they dominated possession-wise away from home, Newcastle and Milan.
In those games, he gave up five fouls. And their players on the break aren’t the quickest off the mark, so imagine the job he’ll have in this tie?
