Marseille have been consistently inconsistent this season, blowing hot and cold pretty much since a ball was kicked back in August. They have gone on three separate runs of five games undefeated but then they seem to down tools and go on a losing run. At the moment, they’re in the middle of a four-game undefeated run so, history would suggest the French side are good for at least one more match.
Over their last five games, they’ve scored eight goals and conceded seven, while on home soil have scored seven and conceded five.
Atalanta have won three on the bounce now, drawing and losing the other two of their last five fixtures where they scored 10 and conceded five. Away from home, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have won three and lost two of late, scoring nine and conceding four. With both teams in good goal-scoring form and conceding plenty too, Over 2.5 Goals has some decent value here.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Anytime Goalscorer
Former Arsenal and Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is certainly back enjoying his football this season after the doldrum years of Barcelona and Chelsea fade into memory. The Gabon international has scored 14 in Ligue Un this season but in Europe, he’s been in even better form, scoring 12 goals in 13 games in Europe.
With that record, we’re getting some nice odds for him to score and we should mention he’s also bagged four over his last five home fixtures.
Roma v Bayer Leverkusen

Will Bayer Leverkusen lose a game this season? It would appear not. They’ve drawn their last three games in a row with equalising goals coming in the 89th, 96th, and 97th minute of play.
Daniele De Rossi has been in charge of Roma for 21 games now and has only seen his team lose three times. Of their last five, they’ve won three, drawn one, and lost one while on home soil, the Romans have won four and lost one, scoring nine and conceding four.
Leverkusen have won two and drawn three of their last five and on their travels share the same results, scoring eight and conceding six. Both Teams to Score should be landing for this one.
Over 1.5 Roma Cards
Let’s just contrast the disciplinary record of both sides here. Roma have picked up an astonishing 90 bookings in the Serie A this season, collecting 22 in the Europa League. Leverkusen have picked up just 58 cards in the Bundesliga this campaign and only 14 in the Europa League.
We can’t all lay the charge of playing dirty at the feet of previous manager Jose Mourinho either. Over their last seven home fixtures, Roma have picked up 5, 1, 6, 2, 1, 2 and 3 bookings. For Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen, we’ve seen the opposition pick up at least two cards in eight of their last 10 away fixtures so we could easily see Roma picking up two here.
Draw
Rome have certainly become a better side under De Rossi’s tutelage, they were hard to beat under Mourinho but now they’re going on and winning more matches. But, Alonso’s Leverkusen are just so dogged and have still yet to be beaten this season and we’re seen time and time again that they can dig deep and resure a draw.
The away side would be more than happy to take a draw into the second leg and while Roma might huff and puff in an attempt to go for victory, Leverkusen’s undefeated record is so difficult to argue against. We reckon honours will be shared here and we’ll have a cracker second leg next week.
