Liverpool are not out of the title race when you look at the points they have but it would be extremely, extremely, unlikely that they win the league now. That was a damaging blow against Everton. They’ve got to get on with it though. West Ham are not in great form but I think this will be a difficult game.
David Moyes and Sean Dyche play exactly the same way and Moyes would have seen how Everton just defended the box. There’s no problem in that, it’s down to Liverpool to break it down. But I think that’s how it’s going to play out and I can see it being very tight.
West Ham have won just once in their last seven Premier League games and Liverpool have just had their second defeat in three. I’m going to back Liverpool to just win this 2-1.
5.30pm: Everton v Brentford
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
I’m really delighted for Everton… three clean sheets in four games and the one in-between was the drubbing at Chelsea so Sean Dyche will love those clean sheets as a former defender. To do it against Liverpool, yes we had chances, was impressive.
How will Everton deal with Brentford? Much the same as they dealt with Liverpool I suspect. Brentford won 5-1 away at Luton at the weekend and they’ve won two on the bounce.
This might have a different feel as the fans will expect Everton to be a lot more offensive than they were against Liverpool. I don’t think this is going to be a goal fest, I’m going be Everton to win by the odd goal, 1-0.
8pm: Aston Villa v Chelsea
TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate
Chelsea have to respond but they’ve got an absolute shedload of injuries, they really have, and it’s going to be hard for them to put out a team. Hopefully Cole Palmer will be back for the game as he was ill for the drubbing against Arsenal. Chelsea have lost their last two now as they lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi final as well.
Nicolas Jackson did have chances in that game but you’ve got to fancy Aston Villa to win this one. I fancy them to keep a clean sheet. Villa have won 35 out of 59 games under Unai Emery who’s just signed a new contract so well done to him. They’ve won their last two Premier League games so I’m going for that clean sheet and for Villa to Win 2-0.
