Football tips: Who will clinch Champions League Golden Boot as Kane and Mbappe face off?

Will it be King Kane or King Kylian in the Champions League Golden Boot race?

The final straight of the UEFA Champions League sees three European nations represented at the semi-final stage with Premier League already sides slotting their passports away until next season.

Real Madrid’s epic penalty shootout win ended Manchester City’s title defence, and they take on Bayern Munich in the last four, with PSG up against Borussia Dortmund in the opposing semifinal.

Los Blancos are red hot favourites to win another European title under Carlo Ancelotti and you can check out the latest match and outright Champions League betting on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app.

However, alongside the battle for the famous trophy, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe are locked in a Golden Boot battle, with the superhuman efforts of Jude Bellingham also threatening a late push as the goal king of Europe!

Paddy takes a look at the latest Golden Boot picture as Harry, Kylian and Jude fight it out!

Kylian Mbappe – PSG

Mbappe led the Champions League goal charts ahead of the semi-finals with eight scored in Europe this season. The France captain is ready to walk away from the Parc des Princes this summer but he remains determined to leave as a European champion.

His incoming move to Real Madrid could take a soap-opera twist if they meet in the final, and he has the edge in the semis, with PSG tipped to get past Dortmund.

Mbappe is currently sixth on the all-time Champions League list for knockout stage goals, with 20 from 28, and he scored five across two legged games with Real Sociedad and Barcelona in the previous rounds this season.

PSG’s No.7 is still the slight favourite, but he could need to reach and score in the final to seal it, with the firm chance of first Golden Boot winner with below 10 goals scored since Lionel Messi in 2010.

Harry Kane – Bayern Munich

Kane’s first season in German football has ended with Bayern Munich breaking their dominance of the Bundesliga with a first title slip since losing out to Jurgen Klopp’s Dortmund’s in 2012.

That has led to a stream of (insert joke) theories over Kane being a trophy curse following his barren time at Tottenham, however, he could have the last laugh if Bayern can get past Real Madrid.

Harry Kane, Bayern Munich, September 2023

After knocking in a penalty in Bayern Munich’s 2-2 first leg draw with Real Madrid, Kane is now level with Mbappe on eight goals scored, as part of his best ever Champions League tally.

Jude Bellingham – Real Madrid

Bellingham looks to be on a mission to do absolutely everything this season as part of an incredible first year at Real Madrid. Winning goals in successive El Clasicos has cemented his place as a fans fave already with the midfielder netting 21 goals in all competitions.

On the domestic front he is battling with Girona’s Artem Dovbyk for the La Liga Golden Boot, but he could also have a say in the Champions League.

Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Junior have five European goals each for Ancelotti’s team, with the latter scoring twice against Bayern, but Bellingham has had his hand on the Real Madrid clutch in the key games.
