Ross County host Rangers on Sunday in Dingwall in peculiar circumstances. The Gers had expected to be in action on Wednesday against Dundee but that match was postponed due to the shambolic state of the Dens Park pitch.
Not only have Philippe Clement’s plans for this encounter been thrown into disarray, it poses a major headache for the week ahead. With a Scottish Cup semi-final against Hearts looming next weekend, they also have to squeeze in that trip to Dundee. That could have a knock-on effect in this match, with the Rangers boss forced to juggle around his squad.
The Gers have not lost in 20 previous matches against Ross County, which is a run that should continue here, yet they rarely find it easy in Dingwall. In 12 previous trips to the Highlands, they have only won by more than two goals twice. Given the complications they face this week, expect that run to continue.

Don Cowie has been in interim charge of Ross County for four home matches and in each of those encounters, his side has managed to find the net. Indeed, they have done so twice on three occasions.
In their last home match against Hearts, they claimed a shock 2-1 victory in which their attacking menace was clear. Although they have failed to score in their last two home games with Rangers, they did register a goal at Ibrox in February, in Cowie’s first game in charge.
The Gers’ defence hasn’t been watertight lately either. They have conceded in their last four games.

Not only are these teams at opposite ends of the table, they are also at extremes in the fair play standings, too.
Ross County have been shown a massive 74 cards so far this season whereas Rangers have seen less than half that number, 36.
In both previous meetings between them this season, Ross County have seen three yellow cards to the Gers’ one. Referee Matthew MacDermid has only booked one Rangers player in the two Premiership games he has overseen from the Ibrox club. He booked two County players in the only game of theirs he has officiated.
Abdallah Sima to score anytime
Abdallah Sima returned with a bang against Celtic in the Old Firm game. Having played only 10 minutes against Hibs due to a hamstring injury, he came on at the break last weekend and helped turn the game in the Gers’ favour.
The Senegal international will be vital in the run-in and Clement will want to get minutes into him here ahead of the Scottish Cup semi. If he starts, he surely will, the on-loan Brighton man stands a strong chance of netting. He has scored in five of his last nine Premiership appearances.
Rangers to have 8 or more shots on target
Rangers famously managed to have 23 shots on target when they last met Ross County at Ibrox. Only the performance of George Wickens in the visiting goal that night saved the Dingwall club from a thrashing for the ages, with the Gers mustering a total of 43 efforts on goal.
County’s defence is still prone to being exposed and their keeper is in line for another busy match on Sunday. In the hosts’ five previous games against the Old Firm this season, they have faced an average of over 13 shots on target, including over 12 three times.
A conservative 8 or more shots on target looks a strong option. County’s best defensive display against the Glasgow giants this season saw them give up seven shots on goal.
