5:45pm: Lyon v Benfica

TV: DAZN 1 and TNT Sports 2

Lyon to win and BTTS

Lyon needed to come from behind to secure a 2-1 victory away in Portugal last week and the hosts will be looking to avoid any further issues back on home soil. The French giants have not lost a game in league and Champions League action so far this season and they look certain to retain their domestic title in the coming weeks.

There is a real sense of Benfica having lost their chance in the first leg, and they failed to win away from home in the group stages, but scored in two of three on the road. I expect Lyon to Win but both teams have a good chance of scoring as well.

8pm: Chelsea v Ajax

TV: DAZN 1 and TNT Sports 1

Chelsea (-2)

Chelsea had little issue building up a strong first leg advantage away in the Netherlands last week with a solid 3-0 victory over Ajax. On paper, the tie is effectively settled, based on Chelsea’s lead ahead of the return tie.

However, Emma Hayes’ standards are high, and she will be demanding her team to not take their foot off the pedal. They remain just ahead of Manchester City in the WSL title race and they are unbeaten in seven Champions League games so far this season. I fancy Chelsea to pass the (-2) handicap.

First half over 2.5 goals

Chelsea have developed a habit for both scoring and conceding early goals in the Champions League this season with their firepower eventually winning out in the final result. Of the 20 goals scored in their six group stage matches, eight of them were scored before half time, and they had two before the break in the first leg in Amsterdam.

That tally can be stretched a little further by Ajax’s own first half record which includes six of their seven European goals this season all netted inside the first 45 minutes. Don’t miss kick off as we could have an electric first half with Over 2.5 Goals in it.
