Everton v West Ham
Both teams to Score
Everton’s survival hopes received a huge boost during the week without them even kicking a ball when their 10-point deduction was reduced to six, seeing them move five points clear of the bottom three for the time being.
Sean Dyche’s side can take another giant stride towards safety with a win at home to a West Ham side that was badly out of form before their win over Brentford on Monday night.
However, neither Everton nor West Ham have been particularly impressive defensively in the last few months.
Everton, who have not won a league game since mid-December, have also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five games in all competitions.
West Ham, on the other hand, recorded their first win of 2024 with Monday’s win over Brentford, but David Moyes’ side have still failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight games, conceding a whopping 18 goals in that period.
Neither side inspires confidence defensively of late and it wouldn’t be surprising if both defences failed to keep a clean sheet on Saturday afternoon.
Fulham v Brighton
Brighton to have 6 or more Shots on Target
Brighton are currently battling a long list of injuries and suffered FA Cup disappointment at Molineux mid-week, but they should be right up for this trip to Fulham with a chance to close the gap on Manchester United in sixth.
Partially due to their injury list, Roberto De Zerbi’s side have somewhat tailed off after an excellent start to the season, but they still rank among the top teams in the league in terms of shots on target, averaging almost six efforts on goal per game.
Only Manchester City and Liverpool have registered more shots on target than De Zerbi’s side this season and there is every chance that they will pepper the Fulham goal with shots on Saturday.
Fulham concede an average of around five shots on target per game – leaving them roughly mid-table in that metric.
Marco Silva’s side will be full of energy after last week’s last-gasp win at Old Trafford, but they faced nine shots on target despite fully deserving the three points and may be forced to do more defending when Brighton come to town.
Nottingham Forest v Liverpool
Taiwoo Awoniyi to have 1 or more Shots on Target
Former Liverpool striker Taiwoo Awoniyi scored the winner in this fixture last season and will be crucial to Forest’s chances on Saturday afternoon. Awoniyi has missed much of the 2023/24 season through injury and Forest could do with him staying fit and in form as the season approaches the business end.
When he plays, Awoniyi is one of Forest’s most dangerous players. The Nigerian forward has scored six times from 15 league appearances, leaving him as Forest’s second-highest scorer behind Chris Wood, who has scored eight in 20 appearances.
He also averages 1.4 shots per game for Forest, the third-highest at the club for any player who has made more than five appearances.
Awoniyi has scored three times in his last eight Forest appearances and stung the palms of Andre Onana during Forest’s defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Wednesday night. There is a good chance that he will register at least one shot on goal against what is likely to be a youthful and inexperienced Liverpool side.
Taiwoo Awoniyi is have at least one Shot on Target falls under our new Super Sub offer, meaning if he’s substituted the picks will pass on to his replacement. Read about the PP Super Sub off here.
Tottenham v Crystal Palace
Over 3.5 Goals
True to form, Tottenham have been incredibly entertaining in recent months. Ange Postecoglou’s side have both scored and failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last eight league games, scoring 17 goals and conceding 15 in that run.
Only Newcastle and Aston Villa have been involved in more goals than Spurs this season and there is a very good chance that Postecoglou’s side will continue that trend on Saturday afternoon.
Their opponents Crystal Palace were ruthless in a 3-0 win over Burnley last weekend and will cause problems for a Spurs defence that has conceded 38 times this season.
However, Palace have not kept an away clean sheet since the beginning of November and have conceded 13 goals in their last six games, even counting that clean sheet against Burnley. All signs point to a high-scoring affair on Saturday.
Newcastle v Wolves
Wolves to Receive the Most Cards
Wolves and Newcastle sit side by side in the Premier League table, with Wolves currently occupying ninth and Newcastle sitting in tenth. However, they are poles apart in the Premier League’s disciplinary table.
Eddie Howe’s side currently boasts the sixth-best disciplinary record in the Premier League, collecting 58 bookings and no red cards in 26 games this season.
Wolves, on the other hand, boast the fifth-worst record in the league, collecting 65 yellow cards and three dismissals. They have also conceded the third-most fouls in the division this season, averaging almost 13 per game, compared to Newcastle’s record of just over 10 per game (the sixth-lowest in the league).
It wouldn’t be at all surprising if they received more cards at St. James’s Park.
