Manchester United v Fulham
Rasmus Hojlund to Score
Rasmus Hojlund’s newfound goalscoring form directly coincides with Manchester United’s upturn in fortunes of late. Hojlund has scored seven goals in his last six league appearances, with United taking 16 points in those six games.
In the last four league games that Hojlund did not score in, United took just a solitary point. The Danish youngster’s goalscoring stats are all the more impressive when you consider he has had just 11 shots in those six games, scoring around two-thirds of his shots on goal.
He can do no wrong and will fancy his chances of extending his scoring streak to seven consecutive games against a Fulham side that has taken just one point from their last six away league games and just seven points on the road this season – the second-worst record in the division.
Fulham have conceded 26 goals in their 12 away league games so far this season – an average of over two goals per game – and Hojlund is good value to find the back of the net against them on Saturday afternoon.
Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest
Both Teams to Score
Once the best in the Premier League, Aston Villa’s home form has nosedived in recent weeks. Villa have lost back-to-back league games at Villa Park, while they have taken just four points from their last available 12, scraping a draw against basement club Sheffield United before Christmas.
They were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Chelsea in a FA Cup fourth-round replay earlier in February. Villa have conceded in each of their last five games at Villa Park in all competitions, shipping 11 goals in their last five home outings.
They face a Forest side that has become far more goal-happy since Nuno Espirito Santo took the reins before Christmas. The away side have scored in each of their eight league games under Santo, scoring an impressive 15 times.
To put that into context, they scored just 17 times in their opening 17 games of the season before Santo took over. Crucially, however, Forest have kept just one league clean sheet under Santo and none away from home, conceding five times in their three league games away from the City Ground.
All signs point to both teams finding the back of the net on Saturday.
Brighton v Everton
Everton to have 4 or more Shots on Target
Brighton have been an incredibly strange club of late, with their results ebbing and flowing with each passing week. From losing 4-0 at Luton to beating bitter rivals Crystal Palace 4-1 three days later, it’s difficult to know what kind of performance or result to expect from the Seagulls.
What is easier to predict is the volume of shots on target that they face every game. Whether they are winning or losing, Brighton seem to be facing a significant number of shots on goal recently, regardless of whether they are playing at home or away.
They have faced 20 shots on target in their last four league games, which includes their recent 5-0 win over Sheffield United when their opponents played with 10 men for most of the game and mustered just one shot on target.
Everton, on the other hand, are in dire need of a season-changing win and will have a go at the AmEx on Saturday afternoon. Sean Dyche’s side have managed at least four shots on target in three of their last four games, only failing to do so in a 2-0 defeat at the Etihad when they would never be expected to trouble the City goal on four occasions.
They should cause some problems for Brighton on Saturday, however.
Over 2.5 Brighton Cards
The disparity between Brighton’s disciplinary record this season and last is simply astounding. Roberto De Zerbi’s side recorded the fifth-best record in the league last season, receiving just 58 bookings and no red cards over the 38-game season.
They have already surpassed that tally after just 25 games this season, receiving 62 yellow cards and two dismissals at a rate far above two cards per game – the fourth-worst record in the division.
They have received three cards or more in 12 of their 25 games this season and are very good value to do so again against Everton on Saturday.
Crystal Palace v Burnley
Over 5.5 Crystal Palace Corners
Crystal Palace came agonisingly close to an important away win at Everton on Monday night and will be desperate for a first win under new manager Oliver Glasner on Saturday to help ease their relegation fears.
Saturday’s clash with Burnley is a must-win and Palace will surely go all-out to put on a big performance in front of their own fans. They are likely to pepper the Burnley goal with shots considering they face a Burnley side that has faced 15.8 shots per game this season – the fifth-most in the league.
Burnley have also conceded the fifth-most corners in the league this season, conceding an average of six per game. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if they conceded that many on Saturday.
