Fulham v Bournemouth

Over 2.5 Goals

It has been a bizarre few months for Fulham. It is not that long since the Cottagers coasted to back-to-back 5-0 victories over Nottingham Forest and West Ham at the beginning of December before losing three games on the spin without scoring a goal.

They followed that winless run with a surprise 2-1 victory over title-chasing Arsenal before losing to Chelsea and exiting both the FA Cup and the League Cup within the space of a week. Most recently, they blew a two-goal lead against relegation-threatened Burnley and now find themselves in an awkward limbo where they are unlikely to be relegated but equally unlikely to finish in the top ten.

On Saturday, they face a Bournemouth side that has somewhat run out of steam since taking an incredible 19 points from seven games in November and December. The Cherries are now winless in four league games and have not won since the reverse fixture against Fulham on Boxing Day.

Bournemouth have conceded nine goals in their last four league games, while Fulham have conceded nine in their last six. Both are clearly struggling to keep goals out at the moment but also possess the tools to hurt one another, especially Bournemouth, who scored a hugely impressive 18 goals during that seven-game run. There should be plenty of goals at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool v Burnley

Darwin Nunez to have 5 or more Shots

Darwin Nunez scored in Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Burnley on Boxing Day and has only managed to score in one Premier League game since, scoring twice in the 4-0 win at Bournemouth in mid-January. That is not for lack of trying.

The Uruguayan forward has missed an incredible number of chances in recent games for Liverpool, attempting a staggering 22 shots in his last four league games. That statistic is even more impressive considering one of those league games was a late substitute appearance against Arsenal.

Nunez attempting a whopping 11 shots in Liverpool’s win over Chelsea and attempted eight in their 4-2 win over Newcastle on New Year’s Day. He averages more shots per game than any other Liverpool player this season, attempting an average of 3.3 per game in the league.
However, eight of Nunez’s 22 league appearances have been from the bench, so his average could be even higher still.

Facing a Burnley side that has conceded the second-highest number of goals in the Premier League, Nunez should get a high volume of shots away on Saturday.

Luton v Sheffield United

Sheffield United to Receive the Most Cards

As newly-promoted clubs, Luton and Sheffield United have been almost polar opposites this season, with Luton winning plaudits from all corners and Sheffield United propping up the table as they head towards almost certain relegation.

Ten points separate the two sides in the league table and they are even further apart in the league’s disciplinary table. Luton boast the best disciplinary record in the Premier League this season, receiving 40 yellow cards in their 22 games to date.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, boast the second-worst record in the league, receiving 67 bookings and three red cards in 23 league games, almost double the number of total cards. There is every chance that Luton win on Saturday to put even more daylight between the two sides, and it is entirely conceivable that Sheffield United amass more cards, with frustration getting the better of them.

Tottenham v Brighton

Tottenham to have 7 or more Shots on Target

The reverse fixture between these two sides was one of the most bizarre games of the season. Brighton were 4-0 up and cruising with ten minutes to play and yet could have very easily let the game slip.

The game was a microcosm of Brighton’s topsy-turvy season that has seen them score 42 goals and concede 38. Only Tottenham and Newcastle have been involved in more. Only six teams have conceded more league goals than Brighton this season and they face a Spurs attack that has scored the third-highest number of goals in the league this season.

Spurs average exactly six shots on target per league game this season and may just better than average playing against such an unconvincing Brighton defence.

Wolves vs Brentford

Over 5.5 Wolvers Corners

Saturday marks the fourth meeting between Brentford and Wolves since the end of December, with Wolves winning in the league and knocking Brentford out of the cup after a replay. Wolves scored eight times in those three games, winning 16 corners in the process, a rate of just over five per game.

Gary O’Neil’s side actually boast one of the lowest corner averages in the league this season, averaging just over four per game, but face a Brentford side that concedes almost six per game. Brentford concede exactly six corners per game when playing away from home and there is no reason to think that Saturday will be any different.
