    Celtic (-1.5)

Both Celtic and Hibs go into Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership encounter at Easter Road under some degree of pressure. Questions are already being asked of home boss Nick Montgomery after a thumping 3-0 weekend loss to St Mirren while the visitors’ uninspired January transfer window was understandably followed by frustration as the Hoops were outplayed during the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen.

Brendan Rodgers’ side, meanwhile, have seen their lead at the top of the table eaten away by Rangers, introducing a fresh sense of jeopardy to their season. Suddenly, this feels like a must-win match.

Celtic should have the power to do so, even at a venue in which they have won only one of their last four games. When the Hoops have won against Hibs in the recent past, they have done so handsomely. Their last five wins against the Edinburgh side have all been by at least two goals. Expect that trend to continue with Celtic (-1.5).

    Over 2.5 Goals

Nine of Celtic’s 12 away matches this season have finished with at least three goals, and it would be a big surprise if this game were to play out as a repeat of the scoreless draw they experienced against Hibs in October by bucking this trend.

It is only a matter of time before the Parkhead side rediscover their touch in front of goal, and against a Hibs team that is weak defensively, they are bound to be given ample opportunities to find the net in this game.

Hibs have conceded at least two goals in their three previous league matches, and given these were against far more modest opponents, it is only a little stretch to believe that run will continue in midweek.

        Luis Palma to Score Anytime

Out of European football, the imperative for Celtic to rotate is not as heavy as it is on Rangers and that should play into their hands for this game. Nevertheless, with Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada struggling to find their form, changes could be made in attack.

Luis Palma currently looks the most bulletproof of the front three, having had a goal disallowed at the weekend for offside. The Honduran has been Celtic’s most dangerous player in recent weeks and looks the player likeliest to find the net heading into this match. He both scored and assisted in the previous game with Hibs and is the player who should be most feared by the hosts.

Celtic to have 8 or more Corners

Celtic continue to be corner-winning monsters in the Scottish Premiership, averaging more than 10 per match overall and 9.42 on the road. Their style sees them probe down the wings and get many shots away, leading to many of these situations. Despite being below par against Aberdeen at the weekend, they won 12.

Only three clubs in the league give up more corners at home than Hibs, which suggests that Celtic will get ample opportunities to force flag kicks. Eight corners for the visitors should be easily attainable.

Hibs to Receive the Most Cards

The Scottish Premiership disciplinary table shows Celtic are the angels of the league, having only seen 33 cards so far this season. Seven of these came in a single fixture against Rangers, and Brendan Rodgers’ side have not otherwise picked up more than two in a domestic league game. Indeed, exclude that last Old Firm game and Celtic have seen only four yellows in their last six games.

Hibs are hardly a particularly card-happy team either, but they are certainly more prone to picking up bookings than their opponents. Four of their last six have seen at least two yellows given to their players, and with the home crowd likely to be hungry for a committed performance in this game, it would be little surprise to see that trend continue with Hibs To Receive The Most Cards.
