    Middlesbrough v Sunderland
Championship match at the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough
    TV: Sky Sports Football, 12:00pm

    Both Teams to Score

Middlesbrough haven’t kicked a ball since their 6-1 trouncing at the hands of Chelsea in the League Cup on January 23rd. That’s a long time to have a thrashing in your system so the home fans will be expecting a positive response. ‘Boro’s league form has seen them winning two, drawing one, and losing two over their last five in the Championship, while at the Riverside have won one, drawn one, and lost three, scoring four and conceding eight.

Sunderland have won two, drawn one, and lost two of their last five respective league games while on their travels have won one, drawn two, and lost two, scoring four and conceding four. With both teams scoring and leaking goals of late, Both Teams to Score looks nailed on.

    Over 2.5 Goals

As above really but in particular because Michael Carrick’s side have conceded nine over their last five games and eight over their last five at home. Sunderland have the better goals record but there’s pressure on the hosts to win here after a run of lacklustre results so we’re banking on seeing at least three goals for Sunday lunchtime.

      Jack Clarke to Score

Jack Clarke is having a Mo Salah. Bet you never thought you’d see those words in a sentence. Let’s explain. Last season, Salah went on a run of not being able to score at Anfield for a period at the beginning of the season, doing most of his goal-poaching on the road.

Clarke is doing exactly that for the Black Cats, he’s scored 13 Championship goals this season, 11 of them have come away from home. Against a leaky defence like Middlesbrough, we’d be barking not to back him to score.

Sunderland to Receive the Most Cards

The hosts are the fourth most well-behaved team in the Championship this season with 44 yellow cards and two red cards while Sunderland are mid-table when it comes to discipline, collecting 54 yellow cards and two red cards.

‘Boro have picked up fewer cards than their opponents in four of their last six at home so you’d have to Michael Beale’s side to collect a few here.

      Sunderland and Draw

Yes, Middlesbrough will have had a long time to prepare for this game but Sunderland have had a week off, so, plenty of time to recover and prepare properly. Knowing that the hosts conceded eight goals over their last five at home and won just one of those five, we can see the away side getting some positive here.
