How you rate Spurs and Everton is a real psychological profile. Some people cling to historical cliches and others focus on the hyper-inflated nature of these managers. I generally find the best way to approach this is landing somewhere in the middle.

Spurs aren’t an absolute joke side who are going to collapse at any given moment, nor are they this cultural behemoth because Ange Postecoglou says ‘mate’ forty-six times a presser.

Everton? They’re not this side incapable of going down, as if a fairytale ending is guaranteed for them just because they’ve never been relegated, nor are they actually as bad as the league table would suggest, regardless of their 10-point deduction.

This should be a competitive side between two teams who, in reality, have fifteen points between them. Once you drown out all the noise and remove the tropes from your rationale, you can find a straightforward path to a Bet Builder.

    Spurs to Win

You thought I was teeing up a competitive one, didn’t you? Everton’s early-season combative nature was very much a requirement for the hole they found themselves in. They won seven of their first seventeen games which is mightily impressive. But they’ve reverted to peak Sean Dyche-trying-to-scrape-past-the-drop now.

Spurs are madcap and generally concede goals when the opposition is keen to press them into mistakes. This Everton side isn’t going to do that and therefore should make this attacking plethora of Ange-ball come out on top.

Richarlison to have 1 or more Shot on Target

I love how much Richarlison’s profile is starting to trend upward. He’s always had the talent and now with the spotlight being firmly on him in Son’s absence, his quality is shining through.

Having netted in each of his last three games, he’s on one of the best runs of his career, and his tendency to shoot from distance feeds into this leg quite nicely.

Everton might well invite him to drop deep to link-up which could limit him in one sense but he’s one of the most accurate shooters in the league this year. Don’t be surprised to see him continue that run.

James Maddison to have 1 or more Shot on Target

To keep on the trend here, Everton’s regression to Dycheball invites players to take aim. Since the beginning of December, Everton have allowed 55 shots from outside the box, no team has allowed more.

And if you think that’s primarily to do with their league position, the company they keep in this instance is West Ham and Chelsea, so it’s not just a fodder debate.

Equally, 39% of their total shots conceded in that time were outside the box. That’s the fourth-highest rate in the league.

Jordan Pickford to make 3 or more Saves

In his last eight games, the only game Pickford hasn’t made three or more saves in was against Dyche’s former side Burnley. Go figure.

        Over 3.5 Goals

Spurs are one of the sides best-placed to cut Everton open because the speed with which they move the ball, often to their detriment, will catch them unawares, where a low block won’t be impactful.

The only thing that stopped their previous meeting from hitting that over was the two early goals.
