FA Cup Predictions: Lawro’s backing Liverpool and Man Utd to progress but Spurs out

Our man Lawro's always bang up for the FA Cup.

FA Cup Predictions

Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa
Tottenham 0-2 Manchester City
Everton 2-0 Luton
Sheffield United 0-2 Brighton
Fulham 1-2 Newcastle
Liverpool 3-0 Norwich
Newport 0-2 Manchester United
Blackburn 2-1 Wrexham

It’s FA Cup Fourth Round time again folks and that means there’s no Premier League action this week. But, fear not, out game-guessing guru Mark Lawrenson has returned with his crystal ball to give you the run down on all the biggest games this weekend.

Can Mark sense a cupset or two, or will the big boys progress with ease? It’s time to get the definitive verdict on the weekend’s football. Take it away, Lawro!

Friday 7.45pm: Chelsea v Aston Villa

This is an interesting match with Chelsea through to the Carabao Cup final. Neither of these two will want a replay so I’ll go for a home win. They’re started to get a few players back. Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa.

Friday 8pm: Tottenham v Manchester City

TV: ITV 1 and STV

I’ll go for Manchester City to win this. I wouldn’t be surprised if their customary unstoppable run to the end of the season starts now, if it hasn’t already. Tottenham 0-2 Manchester City.

Saturday 3pm: Everton v Luton

Neither side probably want to play this game but from Everton’s point of view, if they can get some momentum going again that would be good. Luton went here and won earlier in the season but I’m expecting a reverse. Everton 2-0 Luton.

Saturday 3pm: Sheffield United v Brighton

I think Brighton will win this comfortably. They might fancy a cup run and, if the draw’s kind, who knows how far they can go. Sheffield United 0-2 Brighton.

Saturday 7pm: Fulham v Newcastle

TV: ITV 4 and ITVX

This and the Premier League are all Newcastle have left now so they might go for it. They like a good cup run, too, the Geordies! Fulham 1-2 Newcastle.

Sunday 2.30pm: Liverpool v Norwich

TV: ITV 1 and STV

I’m at this game so looking forward to it. Jurgen Klopp played a bit of a weakened side against Fulham in the Carabao Cup semi final. He might do the same again but I can’t see anything other than a big home win, they can’t do wrong at the moment. Liverpool 3-0 Norwich.

Sunday 4.30pm: Newport v Manchester United

TV: BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Website

It’s at Newport and they’ve erected a temporary stand and all that. I bet the pitch will be rubbish, it always used to be! It won’t make any difference though. Newport 0-2 Manchester United.

Monday 7.30pm: Blackburn v Wrexham

TV: BBC One Wales, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Website

This is a good one. Blackburn have been struggling, I thought they’d be higher up in the Championship. Wrexham will probably take about 10,000 so it will be a lively atmosphere. I’ll back Blackburn just to win this one. Blackburn 2-1 Wrexham.
