Monday 8pm: Senegal v Ivory Coast
AFCON Last 16 match at Stade Charles Konan Banny de Yamoussoukro
TV: BBC Three, Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football
Senegal (-1)
We’ve a proper meaty AFCON last 16 clash on Monday night as Senegal take on the hosts Ivory Coast. The latter have been in poor form an limped into the knockouts with just three points from three games while Senegal have a 100% record.
Everything is pointing towards a comfortable Senegal Win here and it seems that not even home advantage can revitalise Ivory Coast. They beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in the opener before losing 1-0 to Nigeria and being thumped 4-0 by Equatorial Guinea in the final group match.
Senegal battered Gambia 3-0 before outclassing Cameroon 3-1 and then Guinea 2-0 last time out. The Lions of Teranga look like a good bet to go all the way and I’m backing them to ease past an Ivory Coast side who have already shown they can’t cope with the tournament’s better sides. I fancy them to pass the Senegal (-1) handicap for the fourth time in this competition.
Over 2.5 Goals
It could get ugly for the hosts, too. Senegal, as mentioned earlier, have been scoring freely this tournament while keeping things tight at the back – the exact opposite of the Ivory Coast’s efforts so far.
Senegal have scored eight in three games and conceded two as well with Over 2.5 Goals landing in two of their three matches so far. It’s only clicked in one of the Ivory Coast’s clashes, that 4-0 hammering last time out. I’m worried their heads might have gone and this could all be a bit embarrassing for the hosts on Monday night.

Ismaila Sarr To Score Or Assist
Ismaila Sarr has had a hand in over a third of Senegal’s goals in this AFCON, setting up two and scoring one. Those numbers put him on a par with the great Sadio Mane but, as you might expect, his prices to affect the game are a lot longer than the Bayern Munich hitman.
He’s not finished any of his three games in this competition yet but he’s been getting the job done early doors with a goal or an assist in two of his three starts. At a nice price I really like Ismaila Sarr To Score Or Assist.
Lamine Camara To Commit 2 or More Fouls
Lamine Camara was the star of the show as Senegal beat Gambia 3-0 in their opening match. He bagged a brace but it was the out-of-possession stats that I’m interested in.
The Metz midfielder picked up a booking as he committed two fouls in the game. He committed a further three against Cameroon before being rested last time out against Guinea. He’s ticking along at 2.5 a game so far so I fancy Lamine Camara To Commit 2 or More Fouls.
Senegal to Commit 14 Or More Fouls
Part of Senegal’s success has come from being combatative and getting in their opponents’ faces. It’s an approach that gives us another tempting Bet Builder leg here.
They’ve committed 46 fouls across their three games so far, a hearty average of 15.3 a game. Now the pressure of the knockout stages are on I think Senegal could quite easily Commit well over 14 Fouls here.
