AAFCON Last 16 match at Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé

Equatorial Guinea (+1)

Forget El Clasico, the North London Derby and Der Klassiker. This weekend it’s all about The Big Guinea Game™ as the lads from the Equatorial version take on the OGs Guinea.

That’s right, it’s AFCON last 16 time and I think there’s a fair bit of value flying about in this game with Guinea big favourites for this match. However, recent form indicates strongly that Equatorial will be no pushovers by any stretch of the imagination.

So far in this competition they’re unbeaten and opened up with a 1-1 draw v Nigeria before beating the Bissau version of Guinea and thumping the mighty Ivory Coast 4-0 last time out. OG Guinea stuttered through the group courtesy of a 1-0 won over Gambia, a 1-1 draw with Cameroon and a 2-0 loss to Senegal. I’m tempted to back Equatorial Guinea to Win but I’ll play it safer and take them (+1) in the handicaps.

Over 2.5 Goals

OG Gambia have only seen five goals across their three games but the Equatorial lads have been having a great time, scoring nine in three and conceding just three, leading to 12 goals in three group matches at a stonking average of 4 a match.

Obviously there’s a chance the northern Guinea drag their southern friends down to their nip-and-tuck level, but I think it’s worth changing our arm that Equatorial go all out as it’s worked well for them so far. Plus, if they can fire four past the hosts then why not Gambia? I’m with Over 2.5 goals here.

Emilio Nsue to Score Anytime

Emilio Nsue has been the star of the show for Equatorial and he’s heading the Golden Boot standings as we head into the knockouts. He’s bagged five goals in three games and is two clear of anyone else in the competition at this stage. The odds are, frankly, amazing so we have to have Emilio Nsue to Score Anytime.

Equatorial Guinea To Have 3 Or More Shots On Target

We’re leaning heavily on Equatorial Guinea in this Bet Builder but I think it’s justified. They’ve had 14 Shots On Target across three games and there’s no reason why they won’t be able to rack up a few again. I don’t think we’re asking too much for Equatorial Guinea To Have 3 Or More Shots On Target.

Mohamed Bayo To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target

For OG Guinea, Mohamed Bayo has been pivotal so far. He’s played the lion’s share of the minutes and scored their opening tournament goal in the vital 1-1 draw with Cameroon.

He’s averaging 1.3 Shots on target per 90 minutes played and if Guinea are to bag he looks the most likely. We’ll play it a little safer, though, and opt for Mohamed Bayo To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target.
