Sunderland v Hull
Championship match at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland
TV: Sky Sports Football, 8pm
Both Teams to Score
The Black Cats won the reverse fixture on Boxing Day by a goal to nil so Hull will be out for some revenge here. The hosts have won three, drawn one, and lost two of their last five in all competitions while at the Stadium of Light have won three and lost two of their last five in the league, scoring six and conceding six as well.
Hull have won one, drawn one, and lost three of their last five in all competitions while on their Championship travels have won one and lost four but have scored six while conceding 11. With those goal stats, we should see Both Teams to Score landing.
A Goal Scored in Both Halves
We’ve seen five first-half goals in all five of Sunderland’s most recent home league games and six second-half goals. For Hull’s games, we’ve witnessed seven first-half goals and 11 second-half goals over their last five away league clashes so we’re banking on seeing a Goal Scored in Both Halves.

Jacob Greaves to Commit 1 or more Fouls
Hull defender Jacob Greaves is already earning a reputation as a bit of a tough cookie in Hull’s defence. Over the previous two seasons, he picked up 15 cards but this campaign has already picked up nine. While he’s probably the most likely away player to be carded here we prefer to play it a bit safer and pick him to commit at least one foul.
Jack Clarke to have 2 or more Shots on Target
Jack Clarke has been in mighty form for Sunderland this season, scoring 13 goals over his 27 Championship appearances. However, 11 of those 13 have come away from home. He averages just shy of three shots per game and will be desperate to add a rare home goal to his tally. We’re liking his odds for Clarke to have at least 2 Shots on Target against the Tigers.
Sunderland to Win
We saw a cracking 4-4 at the Stadium of Light in April of last season and with Sunderland winning the most recent meeting between the sides we should see an entertaining affair here.
However, Hull’s form of just one win over their last five in the league, as well as winning just one over their last five on the road, coupled with the away side’s leaky defence, there’s some decent value in backing Sunderland to Win.
