Premier League Predictions: Lawro fancies Man Utd loss but Everton and Chelsea to win

Mark Lawrenson returns to run the rule over this weekend's reduced fixture list.

Lawro’s Premier League Predictions

Burnley 1-1 Luton
Chelsea 2-1 Fulham
Newcastle 0-2 Manchester City
Everton 2-1 Aston Villa
Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham

We’re into the murky waters of the so-called winter break in the Premier League with just half the teams in action across three days. But, fear not, while half the top flight put their feet up Mark Lawrenson’s mind is still whirring at full capacity and he’s here with another round of Premier League predictions. Take it away, Lawro!

    Friday 7.45pm: Burnley v Luton

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

I hate the phrase six pointer but this is a massive game. I think Luton have just stumbled a bit following what happened with Tom Lockyer at Bournemouth. There was a response but they’ve just started to struggle a bit. You know what, the more I think about it the more I fancy a draw. This will be a proper clash of styles. Burnley 1-1 Luton.

    Saturday 12.30pm: Chelsea v Fulham

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

I’m going to go for Chelsea to win this. They’ve just started, very slowly, to make progress. They’re inching forward and are starting to look a little bit better. I’m pretty sure that Mauricio Pochettino now knows what his best team is. It’s taken half a season because they’ve got so many players but it’s coming together. Chelsea 2-1 Fulham.

Saturday 5.30pm: Newcastle v Manchester City

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

Newcastle won easily against Sunderland, they just kept them at arm’s length while Manchester City eased past Huddersfield in the cup. I’ll go with City to win and I just wonder if this is the start of the inevitable 10-game winning streak. Newcastle 0-2 Manchester City.

Sunday 2pm: Everton v Aston Villa

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Wolves beat Everton easily last time in the league. It’s good news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s suspension has been overturned, thank God someone with some common sense has looked at it. I’m going to go for Everton to win, they’ll be buoyed by that decision and they’re tough to beat at home. Everton 2-1 Aston Villa.

Sunday 4.30pm: Manchester United v Tottenham

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Manchester United strolled past Wigan as they should do. You can sit here and talk about Manchester United all day but you just don’t know what team’s going to turn up. I’m going to go for Spurs to win this. They won’t change the way they play and they’ll be a bit open which will obviously help United but they create lots and lots of chances. Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham.
