    Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Spanish Super Cup semi-final match at Al Awal Park, Riyadh
    Wednesday, 7:00pm

Yet again, the 2023/24 Spanish Super Cup takes place on foreign shores with the semi-finals and final occurring in Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid take on their oldest of rivals, Atletico Madrid in the first semi-final with Barcelona taking on Osasun on Thursday. The final will take place on Sunday.

A Goals Score in Both Halves

In three of their last four face-offs, we’ve seen at least one goal scored per half. Real are in the better form of the pair, winning 10 of their last 11 games, drawing the other one, while Diego Simeone’s team have won just two of their last five, drawing one, and losing two. They had won seven of their previous eight, however.

With both teams scoring 12 and 10 over their last five games we should see plenty of action here so we’re backing a Goal to be Scored in Both Halves.

    Alvaro Morata to Score

We’ve spoken plenty of times on these pages about Antoine Griezmann’s form this season but we have to look to the former Real player Alvaro Morata here. The Spaniard has netted 12 in 18 in La Liga as well as five in six in the Champions League.

It’s his record against his former employers though that really stands out with five goals from his nine games against them. With four goals over his last five for Los Colchoneros we’re marking him to keep that form going.

Jude Bellingham to have 1 or more Shots on Target

You already know how good England’s Jude Bellingham has been this season, scoring 13 La Liga goals in 17 games as well as four in five in the Champions League. He has, however, only scored one over his last five but in averaging 2.3 shots per game we reckon he’s good to land at least One Shot on Target here.

Antonio Rudiger to Commit 1 or more Fouls in the First Half

Real are rumoured to be in for some defensive signings during the transfer window as they’ve struggled with injuries in their backline this season. Germany’s Antonio Rudiger has played 18 of their 19 La Liga games however and has looked as solid as ever. He leads the charts in bookings for Lost Blancos and has certainly embraced the dark arts since his move from Chelsea in 2022 and we reckon he’ll make at least one foul in the opening 45 minutes.

        4 Cards or More

The last five meetings between the sides have seen 4, 6, 4, 6, and 7 booking issues in normal time and there’s quite obviously no love lost between the pair. Granted this game is being played in a neutral ground with a capacity of just 25,000 but the majority of the supporters will be of a Real ilk so the atmosphere will be in their favour.

As is usual with this Madrid derbies we’re going to see plenty of midfield battles and tactical fouls so we’re backing 4 Cards or More.
