Gillingham v Sheffield United – Under 2.5 Goals

Gillingham might fancy their chances of a giant killing as the Premier League’s bottom side Sheffield United travel south to take on the fourth tier’s 10th-best club. The Gills have been feast or famine this season, winning 12, losing 11 and drawing just two.

The Blades cam only dream of full stomachs and they’ve won two, drawn three and lost 15 in the top flight this year. This could be a nervy affair as United look to avoid embarrassment.

Obviously they don’t score many but they’re coming up against the best in the business week in week out. Gillingham have tightened things up recently and have had Under 2.5 Goals in each of their last seven games. It’s clicked in five of The Blades’ last six so don’t expect a barn burner here.

Hull v Birmingham – Hull to Win

It’s an all-Championship affair next up as Hull host Birmingham who recently disposed of Wayne Rooney’s services in the dugout. Hull are just outside the playoffs in 7th while Birmingham are flirting with the drop zone in 20th after a strong start.

Hull have already beaten Blues 2-0 away from home this season and, assuming they don’t field a team of under 18s, you’d have to fancy them to do so again here. City’s approach is slightly unknown, especially with a change in the hot seat, but at an acca-friendly price I’m happy to take on Hull to Win.

Norwich v Bristol Rovers – Both Teams To Score

It’s Championship v League One here with Norwich disappointing in 13th and Bristol Rovers looking upwards in 10th. The Pirates have been in good form since sacking Joey Barton and have picked up four win in their last six, witnessing a bucket load of goals in the process.

The Canaries have won just one of the last five and if this was down in the Westcountry I might be on Rovers. However, as it’s at Carrow Road, I’ll steer clear of a result punt and side with Both Teams To Score.

While BTTS is a little hit and miss for Norwich, you’d have to back them to net at least once on home turf against a side in a lower division. The real kicker here is that both teams have scored in each of the away side’s last 10 matches in all competitions.

Plymouth v Sutton – Plymouth (-1)

Plymouth of the Championship welcome Sutton United to Home Park and the London side are struggling badly in League Two. They’re one place off the bottom and are five points adrift of safety.

Argyle are themselves 18th, but have been a bit unlucky of late and they’ve been scoring plenty of goals. Keeping them out has been the problem but you’d fancy them to hold a Us side who are only just averaging over a goal a game in the bottom division. In a game the hosts should win comfortably, Plymouth (-1) should have a great chance.

Watford v Chesterfield – Watford to Win & BTTS

We finish with a proper third round clash as National League leaders Chesterfield head to Watford looking to take a big scalp. The Hornets are 10th in the second tier and have turned things around following a poor start.

The Spireites are smashing the National League to pieces and are seven points clear at the top with points dropped on just five occasions. They’ve scored a monstrous 61 goals in 25 games and I fancy them to bag at Vicarage Road.

I’m backing Watford to prevail in the end, though, as Chesterfield won’t be used to being on the back foot against a side with far superior quality. Throw all that into the mix and Watford to Win with Both Teams To Score is a handsome bet.
