BOXING DAY’S 3PM KICK-OFF MULTI-MATCH BET BUILDER

Bournemouth v Fulham
Bournemouth to Win
Dominic Solanke to Score Anytime

Sheffield United v Luton
Under 2.5 Goals
Chiedozie Ogbene to Be Fouled Three or More Times
Marvelous Nakamba To Commit Two or More Fouls

The idea that I could sit down with nineteen ham and stuffing sambos, on the couch, for ten uninterrupted hours and watch grown men kick leather is the real gift of Christmas.

A full day of it. And that’s not me just focusing on the marquee events. Let it be known that I keep an eye out for the little guy – the two 3pm kickoffs have a lot riding on them, too.

That being the coronation of Andoni Iraola as the second coming and two relegation fodder units kicking each other into the stands. December 26th, oh how I’ve longed for thee.

Bournemouth v Fulham

TV: Premier Sports (Ireland only), Amazon Prime

Bournemouth to Win

I’m only being ever so slightly disingenuous when I suggest we’ll be asking Joaquin Phoenix to play Iraola in his biopic down the line, but it is worth noting that Bournemouth look the most functional unit in the league at the moment.

But the most interesting element about their style is they appear to be capable of getting a result against anyone, really.

A game against Burnley is one against a side who play controlled football but lack star power. Newcastle is playing a team who don’t concede goals, Sheffield United is a dogfight, Villa is playing a team riding a wave, Palace and Forest are games where you’ve to outsmart veterans and United at Old Trafford is admittedly a gimme.

Why would I not back them to win this?

Dominic Solanke to Score Anytime

Is there an element of recency bias in this because he scored a hat-trick in his last game? Maybe, but name a better time to do it?

He’s floating at the moment and Fulham’s weird run of not conceding to centre forwards isn’t sustainable. Yes, you don’t change that approach against world class strikers, but when you’re now being beaten by players because you’re so focused on restricting space in the box, you change that approach.

It should see an in-form player being given half a yard.

Sheffield United v Luton

TV: Amazon Prime

Under 2.5 Goals

Sheffield United v Luton is a lot of things. It’s a muckfest. It’s frenetic. It’s considered a northern clash by people from London.

But above all else, it’s likely a game so full of must-win-itess, that you know how it ends: in a total blank. Luton score their goals almost exclusively on the break, with that chance not being afforded to them here.

Sheffield United gave up being a side who are too open because it saw teams with better players ripping them apart when they took risks. Luckily for them, it’s only just turning midway through the season and the cautious approach can still benefit them.

Chiedozie Ogbene to Be Fouled Three or More Times

Officially the fastest player in the league, Ogbene is going to be chopped down like that sticky toffee pudding from the Christmas table.

The Blades know full-well the only way Luton are taking three points is if they’re able to run into space in behind. Ogbene is the primary outball for this, and if they can contain him, they’ll contain Luton.

Marvelous Nakamba To Commit Two or More Fouls

And not only is Marvelous in-line to win Best Premier League Name of All-Time, he’s also an absolute lunatic which pleases me to no end. You’d hate if he was just a flashy left winger wouldn’t you?

No, no. He’s the number six who breaks everyone up and has developed such a reputation that he doesn’t even argue with referees anymore. Only twelve players in the league have committed more fouls than the Zimbabwean this year.
