    Motherwell +2

Rangers are clear favourites coming into this game given their lengthy undefeated run under Philippe Clement and the fact that Motherwell have failed to win any of their last 14 matches, but this is a fixture that is unlikely to be a rout.

The home side may be on a dreadful run of form, but their record against the Old Firm teams this season suggests they will keep this game close. They lost 1-0 against Rangers at Ibrox and 2-1 at home against Celtic, against whom they have also earned a scoreless draw.

Clement’s Rangers, meanwhile, have made a habit of winning by two clear goals in a workmanlike but unspectacular fashion. Four of the Gers’ last six league matches have been won by that margin.

The visitors will also have at least seven players out through injury, and with one eye on next weekend’s big derby with Celtic, squad rotation will come into the manager’s thinking. Expect an away win, but don’t expect it to be a crushing one.

Dujon Sterling to Commit 1 or more Fouls

Perhaps the outstanding bet on the card is to back Dujon Sterling to commit at least one foul. A full back by trade, he will be asked to play in central midfield simply because Rangers do not have any other options to partner Kieran Dowell for this game.

Sterling posts a high foul count per 90 minutes. In the league, he commits 1.9 fouls per 90 – and the majority of this is when he is playing in a quieter area on the wing. Thrust into a more central position, one that is alien to him, don’t be surprised to see this figure climb, especially against a Motherwell midfield that will be intense.

Backing the former Chelsea youth to commit at least two fouls at 4.0 or to commit a foul in each half at 6.0 looks like a smart way to increase the size of the potential payout.

        Cyriel Dessers to Score

Having looked clumsy in his first weeks at Rangers, Dessers is starting to show why the Ibrox club decided to pay so much money to Cremonese to sign him.

He may not be the most graceful of centre forwards, but after scoring three goals in four games, including a brilliant effort against Real Betis in the Europa League, he is finally looking confident.

Dessers is bound to get significant minutes, too. With Kemar Roofe going off injured in midweek and Danilo out long-term, the Nigerian is now the only fit centre forward on Rangers’ books. The only way he will come off is if the match is won – and in that case, he is likely to have contributed a goal to the cause.

Rangers to have 6 or more Corners

Even in their depleted state, Rangers are expected to enjoy sizeable domination in terms of territory in this match, which is likely to be translated into a high corner count.

The Gers are only ranked fourth in terms of corners won this season with 6.24 per game, but Clement’s side are winning more flag kicks when they play on the road on average.

Supporting this angle, Motherwell give up more than 6 corners per game on average.

When these sides last met, Rangers only won 2 corners, but that was a statistical anomaly given what has panned out over the course of the season as a whole. Indeed, it is worth remembering that fixture was under Michael Beale, when they were struggling offensively. Expect the Gers to be better in this game.

Motherwell to Receive the Most Cards

This is a match between two teams at the extremities of the Premiership’s disciplinary standings.

Rangers might have become more robust and aggressive in their defensive work since Clement took charge, but they are still averaging little over 1 card per game.

By contrast, Motherwell are rock bottom in this regard, having seen 43 bookings in 18 matches – closer to 2.5 in each match. The Well have also seen three red cards in total.

With Stuart Kettlewell set to ask his team to defend aggressively in the face of Rangers, it would be extremely surprising if the Steelmen did not live up to their nickname and yield more cards than their opponents.
