There’s two games in the evening as Liverpool head to Burnley before Manchester United host Aston Villa. There’s also five more games spread out on Wednesday and Thursday so there’s plenty of festive footy to gorge on.
So, with so much action to get stuck in to, it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson who’s full of Festive cheer ahead of another packed week of footy action.
Tuesday 12.30pm: Newcastle v Nottingham Forest
Boxing Day/St Stephen’s Day is the best day of the year, the atmosphere’s always great at the games. Newcastle have one or two players coming back to fitness but Nottingham Forest will be adapting to Nuno Espirito Santo’s methods. I fancy a home win. Newcastle 2-1 Nottingham Forest.
Tuesday 3pm: Bournemouth v Fulham
I think this will be a good game of football. Fulham are having a good season. I’m not sure I can separate these two. Bournemouth 1-1 Fulham.
Tuesday 3pm: Sheffield v United Luton
I fancy Sheffield United to win this. Now Chris Wilder’s got his feet under the table they’ll improve. This does feel a bit like a Championship fixture but winning these games is the only way these are going to stay up. Sheffield United 2-1 Luton.
Tuesday 5.30pm: Burnley v Liverpool
This will be a comfortable Liverpool win. Burnley have struggled and have won just the one home game. They just haven’t got to grips with it so far. Burnley 0-2 Liverpool.
Tuesday 8pm: Manchester United v Aston Villa
You know what, I’m going to go for Manchester United to Win. I just feel, with Aston Villa, that they’ve been on this great run but they’re due a bit of a blip where they lose or draw the odd one like they did before Christmas against Sheffield United. Your fortunes in the Premier League can change so fast so I’m going for United. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa.
Wednesday 7.30pm: Brentford v Wolves
Brentford didn’t play in the round before Christmas so they’ll be lying in wait for Wolves. Brentford have been struggling and they’ve had loads of injuries. Wolves have been on a bit of a downward turn so I’ll go for Brentford as they’re at home. Brentford 2-1 Wolves.
Wednesday 7.30pm: Chelsea v Crystal Palace
I think Chelsea will win this. The thing with Crystal Palace is that they lack the depth. We all know these games come along think and fast and Chelsea have serious depth and can rotate. Palace, especially with all their injuries, are down to the bare bones. Chelsea 2-0 Crystal Palace.
Wednesday 8.15pm: Everton v Manchester City
This game’s at Everton and they’ve been really good at home but you have to fancy Manchester City to win. All the Liverpool fans will be hoping that Everton can do them a favour but I think City will do it, even after coming back from Saudi Arabia. Everton 0-2 Manchester City.
Thursday 7.30pm: Brighton v Tottenham Hotspur
This is two very good footballing teams. It will be a good match this, and I think everybody should be made to watch Spurs play because that’s what football’s all about! They’ve done fab when you think about the injuries and Harry Kane leaving about a week before the season started. Ange Postecoglou doesn’t moan about anything, they just attack and attack. I fancy a high-scoring draw and a good, open game of football. Brighton 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur.
Thursday 8.15pm: Arsenal v West Ham
This game sees Declan Rice face his old team, he’s made a big difference as we know for Arsenal. I don’t see West Ham scoring so it’s a big home win for me. Arsenal 3-0 West Ham.
