    Liverpool v Man United

    Sunday, 4:30pm
    TV: Sky Sports Main Event

Liverpool didn’t play great last week but they’re getting over the line in games and the proof is there for all to see in the Premier League table.

They’ve won it before and I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that they might do it again this year.

Villa are flying high, City and Arsenal are dropping points, and Liverpool are top of the league for a reason.

It’s a lot different from last season. New signings have slotted in well, players like Luis Diaz are fit, Harvey Elliott is more experienced, Virgil Van Dijk’s form has been better, Trent Alexander-Arnold looking back to his best – there are a lot of little factors making the difference this season.

There’s a real sense of harmony about the club at the moment. Liverpool have been the most  consistent of the top teams. They’ve not really blown teams away but they are getting the job done.

It doesn’t bode well for United this Sunday.

In midweek, it felt like Bayern Munich had a few more gears to go through at Old Trafford.

It’s a big disappointment to finish bottom of your group and not even make the Europa League, so confidence will be low going to Anfield on Sunday, even more so after the hiding they got there last year.

It feels like Erik ten Hag is under the most pressure of all the managers in the league at the moment – despite picking up the Manager of the Month award last week.

The Bournemouth game was a huge letdown. The owners, the fans, everyone’s going to be disappointed if you start losing games like that at home.

I feel sympathy of Ten Hag in some ways. When you watch the Newcastle game, you don’t see players willing to die for the shirt, do you?

That’s where the blame lies, but ultimately it stops with the manger if you can’t get them motivated to play for you.

Anyone can have lack of quality, but if you have lack of effort, that’s where real problems are.

      Liverpool to Win

There’s real sense of disillusion about the team. I don’t think any United fans think they can win this game, but they might set-up more defensively to counteract Liverpool. They can’t afford to play as openly against Liverpool as they have been.

But it feels like the players they have can’t be solid and structured to play a disciplined game, so I cannot see anything other than a comfortable Liverpool win – I don’t think it’ll be like last year, but I can see them taking three points handily in the end.

Mo Salah 1+ Shots on Target

We all know the attacking threats Liverpool have. Salah should be a banker for at least one shot on target here.

      Darwin Nunez to Score

Luis Diaz is so dangerous as well with his pace, but I think Darwin Nunez  will be on the scoresheet at the end too, so will go with him for an Anytime Scorer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 1+ Shots on Target

Trent Alexander-Arnold is playing with a lot of confidence right now and is being used by Klopp in a more central role. He’s become a goal threat  in addition to being a creative force in the team, and I would fancy him to have at least one effort on goal.

Scott McTominay to Commit 2+ Fouls

I hope this game is as spicy as the games I used to play in with battles all over the pitch. Scott McTominay’s a local Manchester lads and will be involved in the midfield battle I’d expect, so I see him making at least a couple of fouls in the match.
