Both Teams to Score

Monday night football comes from Fratton Park this week where we have a clash between the top two teams in League One with Portsmouth entertaining Bolton.

Both sides are in good nick, although you’d have to expect a reaction from the hosts after last home match saw them on the wrong side of a 0-4 thrashing from Blackpool. Pompey though have won both of their away games since.

They’ve won three, drawn one and lost one over their last five League One outings while Bolton have gone unbeaten over their last seven in the league, winning six and drawing one. With those results, we have to start with a Both Teams to Score pick.

Over 2.5 Goals

The hosts have scored 10 over their last five in the league as well as seven over their last five at home in League One.

Bolton have scored a very healthy 12 goals over their last five league fixtures as well as nine over their last five away League One games. We should certainly see at least three goals here.

    Paddy Lane to Score

With the bad news that Colby Bishop is sidelined, scoring responsibilities will likely fall to Northern Ireland’s Paddy Lane. Bishop has scored 11 in 18 and will be a big miss although he should be back in three to four weeks.

Lane has two goals over his last five appearances for the hosts and will be making a beeline for the goal when he gets the ball out on the wing. He’s the most likely to get a goal for the hosts here.

    Dion Charles to Score

Dion Charles leads the goalscorer stats for Bolton with 11 in 17 in the league, he’s also scored two in his cup competition appearances and has netted three while on international duty for Northern Ireland of late.

With three over his last five and two over his last five on Bolton’s away jaunts he’s the most likely to be bagging for the Trotters.

    Draw

Pompey will be relying on home advantage here to take the three points but we just cannot dismiss how clinical Bolton have been in front of goal of late and we can see the sides cancelling the other out.

We’re backing honours to be shared here in what should be a pulsating affair.
