    Newcastle v Man United

    Saturday, 8pm
    TV: TNT Sports 1

Newcastle have given a great account of themselves in Europe and were treated harshly by VAR on Tuesday night.

They could’ve grumbled because they’ve been drawn in the Group of Death but they’ve performed so well against Paris over both those games.

They seem to be miles ahead of PSG in terms of how they’re going about their business – they just seem to know what they want to achieve, the types of players they need to bring in.

    Eddie Howe

I can’t see there being any kneejerk reactions around the manager, Eddie Howe, either – it’d be ridiculous if they were to consider it even given the job he’s doing.

Obviously owners with a lot of money often want success straight away – and they usually get it – but it feels mad even discussing it, he’s been a rousing success in my view, and they should try to keep building what they’ve started.

It’s also easy to forget the injuries they’re dealing with. The team is still performing even with key players out. That’s a sign that they’ve built a good squad with good morale.

Not everyone gets to play all the time, but when they’re needed, they come in and contribute.

They’re taking on Man United this weekend – oh my God, what a catalogue of errors they put together on Wednesday night.

It was a great game for a neutral – you love seeing end-to-end action and all these chances, goals, drama, but defensively, they’ve got to just manage the game!

They were 2-0 and 3-1 up!

It seems very naive. They’ll be kicking themselves because scoring three goals away from home in Europe, it’s not easy, but United just aren’t solid enough to hold leads.

    Newcastle to Win

We’ve seen it all season. They’ve been too open in midfield. It might help score goals but they’re conceding so many too.

It means I have to strongly fancy Newcastle to win on Saturday night. United might get a goal or two with the way they’re playing but the home team should come out on top.

    Alexander Isak to Score

Isak scored a good goal against PSG and is their main goal threat when fit, with Callum Wilson a threat off the bench.

If Newcastle win, he’s the most likely goalscorer in their team.

Anthony Gordon to Score or Assist

Anthony Gordon’s been on fire for them too. You could see him scoring or creating something for someone else with the form he’s in, so he’s worth adding here.

Alejandro Garnacho to Have 1+ Shots on Target

Garnacho seems to be involved in everything at the moment for United so it’s hard to imagine he won’t have an effort on target at least on Saturday.

Bruno Fernandes to Commit 2+ Fouls

The way Newcastle wind teams up, I can see a bit of an edge to this and can see a few players getting involved, certainly Bruno Fernandes, who I am sure will be good for a few fouls at the very least especially if United are losing.
