Saturday, 5:30pm, Nottingham Forest vs Everton
Premier League at the City Ground, Nottingham
TV: Sky Sports Main Event

The penultimate game of Saturday’s Premier League slate sees Nottingham Forest host Everton at the City Ground. If it wasn’t for the visitors’ 10-point deduction they’d be heading into this weekend one point and one position better off than Forest, but their new reality is that they need to fight for every single point.

Everton had been playing well before a loss to Man Utd last Sunday but will fancy their chances against a Forest team who have lost three of their past four matches.

Both Teams to Score

Everton are unfortunate to come into this game on just four points. Not just because of the point deduction that they received from the Premier League but also because of how well they performed against Man Utd last Sunday. On another day they’d have at least levelled the score.

They didn’t manage to score against Andre Onana on the day but they created chances and given that they’ve scored in half of their away games, and have been playing well, I think they’ll bag against a Forest team who can’t stop conceding goals at the City Ground.

Forest have played six games at home so far this season and the away side have scored in five of them. Back Both Teams to Score here.

Morgan Gibbs-White to have 1 or more Shots on Target

He’s only scored one goal so far this season but make no mistake, Morgan Gibbs-White is a serious talent. In my eyes he’s the best player in the Forest squad. He’s great on the counter and crucially his movement around the edge of the box, whether from out wide or central is very good.

He manages to create a lot of space which allows him to get shots off. That’s why he’s averaged 1.9 shots per game this season, higher than anyone else who has started for Forest in the Premier League. Against a defence like Everton I think we’ll see Gibbs-White get a shot on target.

Morgan Gibbs-White to be Fouled 2 or more times

It’s clear that opposition teams know that Gibbs-White is the key man for Forest. He’s been fouled more than anybody else on his team this season, at an average of 1.6 times per game. That’s considerably more than the next player up, Nicolas Dominguez, who is fouled on average just once per game.

Everton commit an average of 12 fouls per game, the fifth highest average in the league and given the danger that Gibbs-White possesses, I think we’ll see them bring him down at least twice here.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to have 1 or more Shots on Target

If Everton are to stay up then it’s essential that they manage to keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the field. When he’s fit he adds another dimension to their attack. So far this season he’s averaged 2.3 shots per game across all competitions with 0.9 being on target.

Forest have allowed 13.7 shots per game and if they let Everton get the ball into Calvert-Lewin’s feet then he’ll get shots away and with that in mind I think that it’s highly likely we see him get at least one on target.

Abdoulaye Doucoure to commit 1 or more Fouls in the First Half

At times this season Abdoulaye Doucoure has been exceptional in Sean Dyche’s Everton midfield. One issue is that he can be a tad rash.

His four yellow cards are tied for a team high alongside Ashley Young and Jarrad Branthwaite. He also leads the teams in fouls, committing 1.8 per game.

Given the importance of this game and the situation that Everton have found themselves in I think we’ll see him get stuck into Forest early, giving away a first half foul.
