We’re well into the 2023/24 Premier League season now and we’re gearing up for another busy weekend in the English top flight. We kick off this weekend with an absolute thigh rubber as Liverpool head to their old friends Manchester City at 12.30pm on Saturday.

Brentford host Arsenal at 5.30pm on Saturday before Spurs tackle Aston Villa in another mouth-watering clash early on Sunday. It’s appointment viewing at 4.30pm on Sunday as a fired-up Everton look to make up lost ground against Manchester United at Goodson Park. Fulham and Wolves close out a pulsating weekend on Monday night at 8pm.

So, with the weekend hurling towards us once again, there’s no time to waste and it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson who will be battling it out with a Paddy punter in our Challenge Lawro game. But first, here’s what Lawro’s crystal ball has revealed this weekend.

Saturday 12.30pm: Man City v Liverpool

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

We don’t know where everyone’s going to be after international duty but I’m going to go for Manchester City to win this. I do think Liverpool will score, they’re playing much better than they have been and Virgil van Dijk’s back now to where he was maybe 18 months, two years ago. City are just so difficult to play against and you’d say Liverpool are better at attacking than defending. With City having loads of the ball I’ll go for them. Manchester City 2-1 Liverpool.

Saturday 3pm: Burnley v West Ham

Burnley got done at Arsenal but West Ham just beat Nottingham Forest before the international break. It’s David Moyes so I’ll go for a narrow away win. Burnley 1-2 West Ham.

Saturday 3pm: Luton v Crystal Palace

Luton lost to Manchester United last time but they put up a really good show. I fancy Crystal Palace to win here with a Roy Hodgson away day defensive special. Luton 0-2 Crystal Palace.

Saturday 3pm: Newcastle v Chelsea

Newcastle have got all sorts of injury problems and they looked knackered when they lost at Bournemouth. Chelsea are on the up and that was a fab game, that 4-4 draw against Manchester City. I’m going to go for Chelsea. Whisper it, but it looks like they might have turned the corner. Newcastle 1-2 Chelsea.

Saturday 3pm: Nottingham Forest v Brighton

Brighton have been a bit hit and miss, playing in Europe has made a difference to them. They’re under a bit of pressure so I’ll have Brighton. I think this might be the story of their season, a little bit up and down. Nottingham Forest 0-2 Brighton.

Saturday 3pm: Sheffield United v Bournemouth

Bournemouth had a great win against Newcastle while Sheffield United got a very good point at Brighton. I fancy Bournemouth. Sheffield United will think they’ve got a good chance of winning this but that’s not how the Premier League works. Sheffield United 1-2 Bournemouth.

Saturday 5.30pm: Brentford v Arsenal

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

You just feel with Brentford that they love playing against all the London teams, they seem to be able to do a job on most of them. I think it’s going to be tight, I’ll go for a draw. I don’t know how many players Brentford had on international duty so I think they might be lying in wait for Arsenal. Brentford 1-1 Arsenal.

Sunday 2pm: Tottenham v Aston Villa

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Tottenham have lost two on the trot while Aston Villa won easily against Fulham. I fancy another draw here, it will just be interesting to see what shape Spurs are in. They had that really good start but now have players missing and they conceded so late in that last game at Wolves but Villa are not great away from home. Tottenham 1-1 Aston Villa.

Sunday 4.30pm: Everton v Manchester United

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Goodison Park will be like the colosseum! Everton will throw absolutely everything at Manchester United but I can see United beating them. It’ll be the Charge of the Light Brigade, I just think United will pick them off a little bit, as poor as they’ve been. Everton 1-2 Manchester United.

Monday 8pm: Fulham v Wolves

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Everyone knows Fulham have not been the same since they lost Aleksandar Mitrovic in the summer. Wolves had that great last-minute win against Spurs before the break but I fancy Fulham. I think they’ll turn the corner here. Fulham 2-0 Wolves.
