As we emerge blinking out of the gloom of another international break into the glorious sunlit uplands of the domestic game, we’ve got a spot of National League action on the telly to help us transition back into the day to day. I am, of course, talking about Barnet v Oldham on Wednesday night.
Barnet are going great guns and are second in the fifth tier. However, they are five points behind leaders Chesterfield (who occupy the only automatic promotion spot) and have played a game more. They’ve also lost their last two matches so this has the feeling of a must-win for the north London outfit.
Oldham are still struggling to assert themselves after relegation from the EFL in 2021/22 and are 10th, four points off the playoffs. I fancy them to get something here though.
Barnet are good at home but The Latics are very hard to beat, drawing five of their last eight and losing one of those. With Barnet having a little wobble in the shape of one win in their last four, I think Oldham (+1) has a good chance.

I fancy a few goals on Wednesday evening. Both have conceded 28 in their 20 games this season which even I can quickly deduce is well over a goal a game. Barnet have knocked Oldham’s socks off in terms of goals scored though, with their haul of 40 dwarfing Oldham’s 28.
Both teams have bagged in seven of Barnet’s last nine league matches while it’s exactly the same over the same period for the visitors. Those stats are screaming at us to back Both Teams to Score here.

Over 2.5 Goals
If we’ve got two teams where Both Teams To Score clicks a lot then Over 2.5 Goals is often well worth a look. I mentioned earlier that Barnet are scoring far more than Oldham but that they have identical defensive records.
This naturally leads to Overs clicking more frequently for them than their visitors. Barnet have seen Over 2.5 Goals in six of their last nine while it’s four in nine for Oldham but three of those have come in the last five games.
Nicke Kabamba To Score Anytime
Nicke Kabamba has been in fine form for Barnet this season and tops their goal-scorer charts with 13 goals in 21 appearances with 11 of those coming in the league. That puts him fourth in the division and there’s no doubt he’s the most likely player to bag on Wednesday.
He’s been a little bit quiet of late, with one league goal in The Bees’ last five league games. Oldham almost-always concede so if Barnet are going to bag then it has to be Kabamba To Score Anytime.
James Norwood To Score Anytime
Similar to Kabamba, James Norwood has been the key man for Oldham this season. It’s not hard to see why as he boasts a ton of EFL experience with a spell in the Championship at Ipswich and time at Barnsley, too.
He’s on eight goals for the season, the most of anyone in the Latics’ squad, and is in great form, bagging four in his last six games, with three of those being the only goal of the game for his side. He gets important goals so I think Norwood To Score Anytime is a good bet here.
