Wolves and Draw

Tottenham have made an excellent start to life under Ange Postecoglou, but this current mini-crisis will be a test of their mettle.

Not only did Spurs suffer their first league defeat of the season against Chelsea on Monday night, but they also lost a number of first-team players to injury and suspension and it will be interesting to see how their relatively thin squad copes.

There is no doubt that Spurs have been much-improved under Postecoglou, but they have also enjoyed the rub of the green in a number of games and were perhaps fortunate to find themselves with such a high points tally before the Chelsea game.

They will need to show serious resilience in the coming weeks and face a difficult trip to Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Wolves have been solid under new manager Gary O’Neil and have had the misfortune of being on the wrong end of several dubious refereeing decisions this season, most notably against Manchester United, Luton, Newcastle, and Sheffield United.

Their win over Manchester City highlights the extent of Tottenham’s task on Saturday and it wouldn’t be at all surprising for Wolves to get a result.

Wolves to have 5 or more Shots on Target

Tottenham concede far too many shots for a side with aspirations of finishing in the top four or even challenging for the title. Postecoglou’s side have faced an average of 13.1 shots per game this season, the ninth-highest record in the league so far.

They have faced 50 shots on target in 11 games at a rate of just under five per game and could slightly better that average against a dangerous Wolves side.

Wolves are averaging four shots on target per game in the league this season but should find joy against an injury and suspension-hit Spurs defence.

Wolves to Commit 13 or more Fouls

No team has committed more fouls in the league this season than Wolves. O’Neil’s side average 13.4 fouls per game in the league this season, ahead of Bournemouth in second and Newcastle in third.

They also make the fourth-highest number of tackles in the league, increasing their chances of committing fouls.

Wolves face a Spurs side that draws an average of over 14 fouls per game, the most in the Premier League, and are highly likely to commit at least 13 fouls.

Yves Bissouma to Attempt 70 or more Passes

Whatever the result on Saturday, Spurs are likely to dominate the ball at Molineux. Postecoglou’s side average over 60% possession in the league this season and boast the sixth-highest possession statistics in the division.

Wolves, on the other hand, average 48% possession, which is the 12th-highest in the league. It means that Yves Bissouma, who completes an average of 69 passes per game, is likely to attempt at least 70 passes.

The Spurs midfielder completes 91% of his passes, meaning that he attempts well over 70 passes in a normal Spurs game, and there is a good chance that he will reach that average here.

Son Heung-Min to have 2 or more Shots on Target

Son Heung-Min spurned a glorious chance to equalise for Spurs late on against Chelsea on Monday and is now, quite literally, one of the only goal threats left at Postecoglou’s disposal following injuries to James Maddison and Richarlison.

Son is enjoying an excellent season, scoring eight league goals in 11 appearances.

He is not shy of a shot, taking an average of 2.7 shots per game, the most of any Spurs player this season and by far the most of any player available to Postecoglou.

With several of Spurs’ key attacking players out, Son will take on even more responsibility and is therefore a good bet to find the target twice against a Wolves side that faces the fifth-most shots in the league.
