Wednesday 8pm: Arsenal v Sevilla
Champions League Group B match at the Emirates Stadium, London
TV: TNT Sports

Arsenal -1

Arsenal come into this game off the back of two successive defeats against West Ham and Newcastle. The Gunners have been disappointing this season, with results papering over the cracks of some unconvincing performances.

However, they can take a giant step towards the Champions League knockout stages with a victory on Wednesday night and are fortunate to be taking on a Sevilla side that are far more out of form than they are.

Sevilla, who currently sit 15th in La Liga, have not won a game in the league or Champions League since the end of September, with their only win in the last six weeks coming against sixth-division side Quintanar in the Copa del Rey.

Mikel Arteta’s side were by far the better side in Seville before the hosts pulled a goal back and they should have it all their own way with the benefit of home advantage. They can always release another club statement if they don’t.

Sevilla to have 3 or more Shots on Target

Arsenal do not typically face many shots on target, but they face an average of three shots on target per game in the Champions League and may just present Sevilla with a few opportunities.

The visitors had 11 attempts against Arsenal two weeks ago but only managed to find the target twice. The Spanish side attempt an average of 16.8 shots per game in La Liga, the second-highest record in the league despite their poor league position.

They will have a go against the Gunners and may cause a few problems for what has been a vulnerable defence of late.

Sevilla to Receive the most Cards

There is simply no comparison between Arsenal and Sevilla’s disciplinary records.

Arsenal boast the best disciplinary record in the Premier League, receiving 16 yellow cards and one red card in their opening 11 games, while they have picked up just three cards in three Champions League games so far.

Sevilla, on the other hand, have picked up a whopping 38 yellow cards and one sending off in La Liga alone, while they have received seven yellow cards in the Champions League – more than double Arsenal’s tally.

Diego Alonso’s side commit far more fouls than Arsenal and are likely to play a large part of the game in their own half, increasing their chances of making fouls worthy of a booking.

Over 9.5 Corners

No club has won more corners than Arsenal in the Premier League this season. Arteta’s side have won 93 corners in 11 league games this season, at least 16 more than any other Premier League club.

They haven’t reached the same levels in Europe, winning 14 corners in their opening three group games, but there is a good chance that they will win a significant number, considering they are probably going to dominate possession and territory.

Sevilla, meanwhile, have won 17 corners in three Champions League games and should win a few corners of their own if they can get at Arsenal.

Sevilla to Commit 13 or more Fouls

The travelling side have committed an average of 12.9 fouls per game in La Liga this season, which would be the third-worst record in the Premier League.

It is a mark of how poor discipline is in Spain that they have actually committed the seventh-fewest fouls in La Liga.

Sevilla average over 11 fouls per game in the Champions League and it is conceivable that they will make a number of fouls at the Emirates to break up a game they are likely to be dominated in.
