Manchester United snatched a morale-boosting win against Fulham on Saturday, but this trip to Copenhagen has always felt like the much bigger game.
Win, and Erik Ten Hag’s side will be back in the driving seat to qualify from Group A. Lose, and United will face an uphill task to make the knockout stages, although they will still be in with a chance.
They face a Copenhagen side who simply can’t catch a break in the Champions League this season and are desperately unlucky to be on just one point after three games.
The Danish side were impressive at Old Trafford two weeks ago and might have snatched a point were it not for Andre Onana’s 97th-minute penalty save, while they couldn’t hold onto a 2-0 lead in Galatasaray with just four minutes remaining. They also led at home to Bayern in a game they deserved at least a point from.
This will be no cakewalk for United and there is every chance that Copenhagen will come away with a result.
Copenhagen to have 5 or more Shots on Target
United’s defensive record resembles that of a team battling relegation. In 16 games in all competitions this season, Ten Hag’s side have faced a whopping 81 shots on target at a rate of over five per game.
They have faced 28 efforts on target in their last five games since the international break, facing a total of 77 shots in those five games. Copenhagen had four efforts on target at Old Trafford two weeks ago from a total of 16 shots and could easily register five efforts on goal on Wednesday night.
The Danish side have scored nine goals in their three games since the defeat at Old Trafford and clearly have the attacking tools to hurt United.

Manchester United Over 2.5 Cards
United have received 36 cards in 16 games in all competitions at a rate of just over two cards per game. However, there is a good chance that they will slightly better that average in such a vital game for their Champions League hopes.
The away side commit just over 11 fouls per game in all competitions this season and have received 13 cards in their five games since the international break, including two in the home leg against Copenhagen.
Playing away from home in a game that they desperately need to get a result in, United are likely to foul more and should pick up more cards than they did two weeks ago as a result.
Copenhagen Over 4.5 Corners
Ten Hag’s side have conceded 37 corners in their last five games, including nine corners in the 1-0 win over these opponents a fortnight back.
That statistic is even more eye-catching when you consider one of those games was against Newcastle, who won just two corners in their League Cup victory at Old Trafford.
In the six away games that they have played in all competitions this season, United have faced a whopping 47 corners and are highly likely to face a high volume of corners in Denmark.
Copenhagen are thus very good value to win five corners or more.
Rasmus Hojlund to have 3 or more Shots
Rasmus Hojlund is still awaiting his first Premier League goal for United, failing to score in any game for the club since he grabbed a brace in the 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray at the beginning of October.
For whatever reason, it just hasn’t happened for the Danish striker in the Premier League so far. However, the Champions League has been a different story for the young forward.
Hojlund has scored three goals in three games for United in Europe and has looked a constant threat for Ten Hag’s side.
He averages over two shots per game and will be desperate to make his mark against his former club. He is good value to try his luck at least three times on Wednesday.
