Atletico Madrid v Celtic Bet Builder Tips:

Both Teams to Score
Antoine Griezmann to Score
Koke to Commit 1 or more Fouls
Kyogo Furuhashi to have 1 or more Shots on Target
Over 3.5 Goals

Tuesday 8pm: Atletico Madrid v Celtic
Champions League Group E match at the Estadio Civitas Metropolitano, Madrid
TV: TNT Sports

Both Teams to Score

Celtic’s last win in the Champions League was a 6-0 qualification round win over Iceland’s KR Reykjavik. Their last Group Stage victory was a 0-3 away win over Belgium’s Anderlecht in 2017. That’s the bad news, however, they’ll take much confidence from the fact that Atletico Madrid have kept just one clean sheet over their last eight games and none over their six home games this season.

Diego Simeone’s side have scored a very healthy 16 goals over those six home games while Celtic have netted 11 over their last five and 12 over their last five away matches so we’re starting with a Both Teams to Score pick.

Antoine Griezmann to Score

Both Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata have seven La Liga goals this season with Morata scoring three in the Champions League, while his French teammate has two. Griezmann has the better odds here and we all know he’s the man for a big occasion.

He also has three over his last five home games and being on penalty duties we reckon his odds have the better value.

Koke to Commit 1 or more Fouls

Simeon’s midfield enforcer Koke has looked back to his best this season, sitting in the middle of their midfield three he takes the ball from the defenders and gets it up the park.

That position also means he’s the one tasked with trying to keep his defenders safe and the way Celtic play, cutting in from the wings, he’s going to be involved in plenty of 50-50s here and while he doesn’t get booked nearly as often as he used to he’s still more than happy to bring a man or two down to break up an attack.

Kyogo Furuhashi to have 1 or more Shots on Target

With two goals over his three Champions League games so far it looks like Kyogo Furuhashi has found some European form after failing to score even one over his six games last season. He’s got five goals in 11 Premiership appearances too and along with the in-form Matt O’Riley will be Celtic’s main goal-scoring threat.

Atletico, of course, aren’t as defensively sound as you’d expect but in the midfield they’re likely to keep O’Riley quieter than his Japanese team mate. The Bhoys’ scoring chances are likely to be limited here so we expect them to get the ball quickly up to their talisman and we can certainly see him testing Atletico’s Jan Oblack between the sticks.

Over 3.5 Goals

Both sides need the win here as things stand in Group E. The hosts can’t afford to drop any more points with them being just one behind Feyenoord and one above Lazio and while Celtic should draw some blood against a less-than-solid home defence the fact is that Atletico have such an impressive front four, and great home record, they should win this by at least two goals.

Since we’re already backing a BTTS pick then we’re looking at at least four goals here.
