Julian Alvarez to Score Jeremy Doku to Score or Assist Mohamed Ali Camara to Commit 1 or More Fouls Mohamed Ali Camara to be Shown a Card Young Boys to Receive the most Yellow Cards
Tuesday 8pm: Man City v Young Boys Champions League Group G match at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester TV: TNT Sports
A win here and Man City will be assured of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League, not that it really feels in much doubt. That said, they still need to beat what’s in front of them and will be hopeful of putting a few goals past Young Boys, especially given that they won the reverse fixture 3-1 in Switzerland and come into this fresh from a 6-1 demolition job on Bournemouth.
Julian Alvarez to Score
Given that it’s around 1/3 for Over 2.5 goals here, we simply have to back a Man City player to score. The player that leaps out is Julian Alvarez.
Firstly, because there’s a very real chance that Erling Haaland could be rested for this game given that Man City should get three points with ease, and he limped off at half-time against Bournemouth.
Secondly, because Alvarez is on fire in the Champions League, already with three goals despite starting just the one game and having two cameos from the bench.
He’s also bagged four in 11 in the Premier League and if it wasn’t for Haaland’s continued brilliance we’d be talking a lot more about the Argentine.
Jeremy Doku to Score or Assist
Jeremy Doku has been great on City’s left flank since arriving from Rennes this summer and we’re backing him to continue his good form by either scoring or registering an assist against Young Boys.
So far in just 136 minutes of Champions League football, he’s scored one and set up another. In the Premier League he’s started six games and come off the bench in two more and has seven goal contributions with two goals and five assists. Against a weak Young Boys team he should be able to add more to his impressive tally.
In three Champions League games, Young Boys’ centre-back Mohamed Ali Camara has committed an average of 2.7 fouls per game. To put that into context, there’s just one player in the rest of the competition, who has played all three games, who has committed more fouls.
Playing in defence against a team with the movement and fluidity of Man City is a nightmare for any defender and I think we’re highly likely to see the Guinea international commit at least one foul here.
Mohamed Ali Camara to be Shown a Card
This might not surprise you but we’re also backing Camara to get booked and see his name in the referee’s book. In his three Champions League appearances this season he’s already picked up two yellow cards.
Even wilder is his record domestically, which has seen the defender pick up seven yellow cards in just 10 games. He’s a player who is prone to discipline issues and there can’t be many worse teams for a rash player to come against than Pep Guardiola’s Man City.
Young Boys to Receive the most Yellow Cards
To complete our Bet Builder we’re backing Young Boys to collect more yellow cards than Man City. Before we look into the numbers you have to remember that City will dominate possession and are unlikely to be getting booked when they have the ball. They’ve averaged 70.8% possession across their three UCL games this year.
City have also picked up just three yellows across three games, only one more than Young Boys’ Mohamed Ali Camara has himself. Camara’s team have picked up eight yellows, just shy of three times the amount of City. Expect that trend to continue here.
