We’re well into the 2023/24 Premier League season now and we’re gearing up for another busy weekend in the English top flight. We’ve got a Friday-night treat to kick us off as the table-topping Spurs head across town to take on Crystal Palace. In Saturday’s early match it’s a west London derby where Chelsea host Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

It’s Wolves v Newcastle on the box on Saturday night before West Ham entertain Everton in Sunday’s early game. It’s popcorn at the ready at 4.30pm for the weekend’s main event, the Manchester derby where City head to Old Trafford to take on their old friends United.
So, with the weekend hurling towards us once again, there’s no time to waste and it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson who will be battling it out with a Paddy punter in our Challenge Lawro game. But first, here’s what Lawro’s crystal ball has revealed this weekend.
Friday 8pm: Crystal Palace v Tottenham
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Tottenham just brushed Fulham aside on Monday night. Crystal Palace are struggling a little bit and were thumped 4-0 at Newcastle last week but we know what Roy Hodgson’s like if he loses a game, he’ll be more determined to stop the opposition next time. Tottenham are going well and I think they’ll win. Crystal Palace 1-2 Tottenham.
Saturday 12.30pm: Chelsea v Brentford
TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate
Brentford won comfortably last weekend and it could have been five or six against Burnley. I’m going to go with Chelsea to win this, though. Slowly but surely they’ve started to chip away at their problems and the longer Mauricio Pochettino is in charge the better their results will be. Chelsea 2-1 Brentford.
Saturday 3pm: Arsenal v Sheffield United
This’ll be a big Arsenal win. They’re up there again and they must have such belief because they keep scoring these ridiculously-late goals and they’re coming from all different players. I feel a bit sorry for Sheffield United because they haven’t really spent any money and they actually lost players. Arsenal 3-0 Sheffield United.
Saturday 3pm: Bournemouth v Burnley
Bournemouth are still without a win and they went in front before losing last weekend. I think the tide might turn for them here. The interesting thing with Burnley is, will Vincent Kompany change his philosophy and the way that they play? Bournemouth have been a bit naïve but I think they might turn it around at the weekend. Bournemouth 2-0 Burnley.
Saturday 5.30pm: Wolves v Newcastle
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Wolves are looking good, I wondered where the goals would come from. Slowly but surely they’re improving and they look difficult to beat. I’m going to go for a draw in this. This is a big test for Newcastle, going from a Champions League defeat to a tough away game. Wolves 1-1 Newcastle.
Sunday 1pm: West Ham v Everton
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
There’s all kind of problems at Everton and they’ve just had the sad passing of Bill Kenwright as well who was a great, great man. West Ham were beaten easily by Villa in the end last time out and Everton were unlucky against Liverpool because Ibrahima Konate should have been sent off, no doubt about it. West Ham 2-0 Everton.
Sunday 2pm: Aston Villa v Luton
Aston Villa are going really well and their home record is amazing. Unai Emery’s been there a year now and I keep raving about him because he’s just one of the best around. Luton will be a difficult game but I have to fancy Villa. Aston Villa 2-0 Luton.
Sunday 2pm: Brighton v Fulham
I really fancy Brighton here. They’ve had a few up and down results but this is the kind of game they relish. Fulham are pretty, they play nice football, but they’re not great at the back at the moment. Joao Palhinha looks like he’s thinking, ‘I should be playing for Bayern Munich’. Brighton 3-0 Fulham.
Sunday 2pm: Liverpool v Nottingham Forest
I’ll be at this game so looking forward to that. Jurgen Klopp’s now got real competition for places and very few injuries. I think they’ll rotate in the Europa League but Nottingham Forest are a good team who are really well coached under Steve Cooper but it’s Liverpool to Win this one for me. Liverpool 3-0 Nottingham Forest.
Sunday 3.30pm: Man United v Man City
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Manchester United won just about in the week and Harry Maguire scored the goal. I’m glad for him because he’s not suddenly become a bad player. Manchester City could have been three, four or five nil in the first half but it only ended up being 2-1 against Brighton. It was a comfortable win and I think they’ll repeat that at Old Trafford. Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City.
