Arsenal v Sheff Utd

Arsenal -2

Aside from a 4-0 win at Bournemouth last month, Arsenal are yet to blow any teams away in the Premier League this season.

The majority of Arsenal’s league wins have been tight affairs that usually end in a one-goal win for Mikel Arteta’s side.

They should be able to buck that trend on Saturday against basement club Sheffield United.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side sit bottom of the Premier League with just one point to their name after nine games, while they also boast the worst goal difference in the league at -17.

In their defence, almost half of that goal difference came in one game against Newcastle last month and they have been competitive in most other games, including a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal’s North London rivals Spurs, which saw Ange Postecoglou’s side score twice in injury time to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

They have also gone close to a point against both Manchester City and Manchester United, but there is little hope of them coming away from the Emirates with a result.

Arsenal, buoyed by an excellent win in Seville during the week, should record their first comfortable home league win of the season.

Gabriel Martinelli to score anytime

Gabriel Martinelli has made an instant impact since returning from a month-long injury against Manchester City before the international break.

The Brazilian winger has scored twice in three games since returning from injury and is good value to continue his impressive form against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Blades have conceded two goals or more in eight of their nine league games this season and will almost certainly do so against Arsenal, giving Arsenal’s forwards an opportunity to add to their season tallies.

Martinelli, who averages around two shots per game this season, is likely to try his luck against such a leaky defence and can score in a second successive appearance at the Emirates.

Sheffield United to commit 12 fouls or more
Sheffield United, unsurprisingly, have one of the worst possession averages in the Premier League this season.

The Blades average just 38.4% of the ball, the third-worst record in the league at this early stage of the season.

They will enjoy far less of the ball than their average against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Gunners’ average of 60.2% possession is the fourth-highest in the division and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Arsenal control three-quarters of the possession on Saturday afternoon.

With that in mind, there is a good chance that Sheffield United will make at least a dozen fouls at the Emirates.

Heckingbottom’s side have already committed the sixth-highest number of fouls in the division at 11.8 per game, but they can be expected to beat that average on Saturday considering they will be defending for much of the game.

Bournemouth v Burnley

Both teams to score
It is probably a bit too early in the season to describe this game as a cliched “six-pointer”, but it is absolutely in must-win territory for both teams.

Both Bournemouth and Burnley find themselves in the bottom three after nine games, with Bournemouth still searching for their first league win under new manager Andoni Iraola.
It is hard to pick a winner between two teams who are so badly out of form, but their defensive records indicate that there will be goals on Saturday.

Bournemouth, who have conceded 20 goals in nine games, boast the third-worst defensive record in the league, while Burnley’s record of 23 goals conceded in nine games is the second-worst.
Between them, they kept one clean sheet this season and it’s hard to back either side doing so on Saturday.

Zeki Amdouni to have one or more shots on target
Only Sheffield United have faced more shots per game this season than Bournemouth, with the Cherries facing a whopping average of 18.7 shots per 90 minutes.

Burnley have attempted the second-fewest shots in the league at 10.1 shots per game, but even they should expect to improve that record at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Summer signing Zeki Amdouni has not been shy about trying his luck.

The Swiss forward averages 1.9 shots per game in the league the season, the highest of any Burnley player, and is likely to test Neto in the Bournemouth goal at least once on Saturday.
