Chelsea v Arsenal, Saturday, 5:30pm
TV: Sky Sports Main Event
Even without Bukayo Saka, Arsenal got a win last time out against Man City. I thought his absence would be crucial but they coped well without him.
That’s probably the biggest result of the season so far.
It’s great for the league in general because it drags everyone back in and keeps so many teams near the top – there are only four points separating the top six now.
Arsenal couldn’t have asked for a much better start to the season. I’ve been so impressed by them for the last couple of years and they’ve continued in that vein so far.
With Chelsea enjoying a bit of a resurgence, this makes for an interesting game. There is still a way to go for them though.
They’ve got a great result away at Burnley, winning 4-1 and they’ve beaten Fulham, but they have had some very disappointing results too – you think of the Forest game, or the loss against Villa.
On the whole, it’s not been good enough so far this season, even if they have started picking up some wins.
ARSENAL TO WIN
Arsenal should have too much for them on Saturday, especially when you look at so many players who are either out long-term or in doubt for this weekend.
Reece James stands out to me – he’s been out since August and is expected to miss this game. He’s a key player for them. Cole Palmer too is a doubt and he’s been in the side recently.
Add those to the long-term absentees and the general confidence around Arsenal, I think the visitors are too good for Chelsea.
Martin Odegaard to Have 1+ Shots on Target
Arsenal have threats all across their team, especially if Saka’s back, Martinelli’s on the other side and Jesus is in the middle.
But in a big game like this I expect big players to show up, and Martin Odegaard’s huge for Arsenal – he should have a shot on target at least.
Raheem Sterling to Have 1+ Shots on Target
On the Chelsea side of things, it’s tough to know exactly how they’ll line up, but I always like Raheem Sterling and he should be nailed on for this game.
He hasn’t been his electrifying self since he’s gone to Chelsea but there have been flashes of his brilliance and he’s been a top player for a long, long time. If Chelsea threaten the Arsenal goal on Saturday, Sterling’s the likeliest one to get an effort on target for me,
Enzo Fernandez to Commit 1+ Fouls
Moises Caicedo to Commit 1+ Fouls
This is a London Derby and the midfield match-up should be a decent battle.
You could pick out a few here who you’d fancy for fouls or cards, but Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are two I’ll go for to commit at least one foul each as Chelsea will probably be chasing the game.
