Sunday 2pm: Nottingham Forest v Brentford
The City Ground, Nottingham
TV: Sky Sports Main Event/Premier League

Draw

Considering they have played Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal away from home in their opening six league games, Nottingham Forest must be happy with their return of seven points from a possible 18.

Forest have already won the same number of away games as they did last season thanks to their win at Stamford Bridge, while they were solid in defeats against United, City, and Arsenal.

For context, Forest conceded 14 and scored zero in away matches against those three sides last season but only conceded seven this season, scoring three goals.

Home form will still play a crucial role in their survival, however, and they have not yet been convincing at the City Ground. Steve Cooper’s side needed a late Chris Wood header to beat Sheffield United in their opening home game of the season and drew with Burnley in their most recent outing on home soil in what has been the Clarets’ only point so far.

They now face a Brentford side that is badly out of form following back-to-back defeats against Newcastle and Everton. The away side have not won in four games now and have only won once all season, beating a 10-man Fulham 3-0.

However, they have drawn half of their league games to date and can pick up another point against a Forest side that has not yet delivered a convincing home performance.

Taiwo Awoniyi to Score Anytime

Forest may not have been in a relegation scrap at all if Taiwo Awoniyi had been fit last season. The Nigerian striker has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, scoring three goals in the opening three games of the season. He also provided the assist for Anthony Elanga in Forest’s 1-0 win over Chelsea.

However, Awoniyi has now gone three games without a goal and will be desperate to get on the scoresheet on Sunday. He will be a handful for the stuttering Brentford defence, which has so far managed just one clean sheet in their six league games.

Over 2.5 Nottingham Forest Cards

The Premier League disciplinary table makes grim reading for Nottingham Forest, who prop up the rest of the division. Cooper’s side have amassed 21 yellow cards and one sending off in six league games to date, which is by far the worst record in the division.

They average almost four cards per game and seem to be struggling to come to terms with new refereeing directives calling for more bookings for dissent and time-wasting.

There is every chance that they will pick up at least three cards during Sunday’s meeting with the Bees.

Under 10.5 Corners

Only three teams have won fewer corners than Forest this season, they’ve been averaging just under four corners per game so far this term. They have won 23 corners in six games, which is only slightly bettered by Brentford, who have won 25 corners over the same number of games.

Neither side ranks highly in terms of average possession per game or shots per game, with Forest ranking third-bottom in terms of shots per game and Brentford ranking in mid-table.

There is an excellent chance that there will be 10 corners or fewer when the two sides go head to head.

Yoane Wissa to have 1 or more Shots on Target

Brentford are struggling without Ivan Toney, there is no doubt about it. Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbuemo have done their best to replace Toney’s threat, but they simply don’t cause the same kind of problems for defences as Toney does.

They have scored six goals between them, however, and average a combined six shots per game, so they are clearly trying their level best to make up for Toney’s loss.

Wissa has scored twice this season but has attempted more shots than any other Brentford player, averaging 3.5 shots per game. He faces a Forest side that has faced an average of 13 shots per game so he should be able to find the target at least once.
