We’re well into the 2023/24 Premier League season now and we’re gearing up for another busy weekend in the English top flight. Aston Villa and Brighton get the ball rolling in what could be a mouth-watering early game on Saturday before six games at 3pm and an equally-exciting clash between Tottenham and Liverpool at 5.30pm.

It’s slim pickings on Sunday as our TV overlords turn their attention too the golf but it’s left to Nottingham Forest and Brentford to fly the flag at 2pm. There’s also a bit of Monday Night Football as Fulham tackle Chelsea in a west London derby.

So, with the weekend hurling towards us once again, there’s no time to waste and it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson who will be battling it out with a Paddy punter in our Challenge Lawro game. But first, here’s what Lawro’s crystal ball has revealed this weekend.

Saturday 12.30pm: Aston Villa v Brighton

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

Aston Villa lost to Everton in the Carabao Cup during the week and Brighton went out to Chelsea too, though both played slightly weakened teams. I think this might be a draw, we’ve got two good managers and two good teams and I think it’ll be a nice game of football but I’m not sure there will be that many chances somehow. Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton.

Saturday 3pm: Bournemouth v Arsenal

Arsenal kept getting pegged back against Tottenham last week after some brave decisions by the Spurs manger whose status improves by the game. Obviously they beat Brentford in the Carabao and I think they’ll win here. Bournemouth payed well at Brighton but got beat. Bournemouth 0-2 Arsenal.

Saturday 3pm: Everton v Luton

Everton have had a couple of big wins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back which is huge, as well as having Beto up front too. You’re starting to look at Everton now and you think if they can keep those two fit then they’ll be fine. Everton 2-0 Luton.

Saturday 3pm: Manchester United v Crystal Palace

I’ll go for a repeat of Tuesday’s Carabao Cup scoreline here I think. They’ve had a few bumps in the road, some massive inquests, and all kinds of stuff going on off the pitch which hasn’t helped. They managed to get a scrappy win at Burnley and a comfortable one during the week so I’ll go for a repeat of that. I think they’ll push on now. Manchester United 3-0 Crystal Palace.

Saturday 3pm: Newcastle v Burnley

Newcastle had a bit of a freak result last week against Sheffield United and Burnley lost at home to Man United. I don’t think you can look past Newcastle here and, slowly but surely, they’re coming to terms with that this season’s about for them with Europe and all that. They’ve had some tough fixtures so far but I fancy them here. Newcastle 2-0 Burnley.

Saturday 3pm: West Ham v Sheffield United

I thought West Ham were good at Liverpool last week, they scored first and had a couple of chances to go 2-0 up and were really competitive. They should do Sheffield United here. West Ham 2-0 Sheffield United.

Saturday 3pm: Wolves v Manchester City

Wolves can’t get a win, can they? They just cant get over the line and had to hold on against Luton. Manchester City will dispatch them easily. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City.

Saturday 5.30pm: Tottenham v Liverpool

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

I should say Liverpool will win 3-1 as that’s been the score in their last four! I’m going to go for a draw though. There’s no doubt Tottenham have got a really good manager and he’s obviously got a way about him because the spirit in the side is really good, even without Harry Kane. Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool.

Sunday 2pm: Nottingham Forest v Brentford

TV: Sky Sports Premier League

I fancy Brentford, they’ve just had a little bit of a hiccup but I’ll say it’s a rejuvenated Brentford to Win. Nottingham Forest 1-2 Brentford.

Monday 8pm: Fulham v Chelsea

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

It was a good win for Chelsea over Brighton in the Carabao Cup, regardless of which team played for either club. Fulham are going along okay and drew at Crystal Palace last time but I’m going to gamble on Chelsea, because they don’t score many goals, but this might be a turning point for them if they can beat their local rivals. Fulham 1-2 Chelsea.

So you’ve heard what Lawro has to say and, all throughout the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, Paddy’s going to be dishing out free bets to his shop customers who can out-shout our mighty game-guessing guru each and every match day.
