It’s time for another big weekend of Premier League action and we have some cracking games across the weekend. Sadly that means just three games in the 3pm slot on Saturday but don’t let that worry you, there’s still plenty of value to be found in the markets.
Luton host Wolves and will be hoping to get their first points of the campaign while Crystal Palace and Fulham meet in a London derby and Nottingham Forest face a daunting trip to the Etihad to try and get something from Man City.
The first leg of our Bet Builder is based on Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina. The Nigerian can play on either side of the back four and although he’s generally played on the left I’m expecting him to move across and play on the right, with Nuno Tavares on the right.
Playing on the right puts him one on one with new Man City signing Jeremy Doku, or potentially Jack Grealish if he’s declared fit enough to play. Whichever of these players end up on the field it’s going to be a difficult afternoon for the RB.
Doku has recorded five dribbles across two Premier League games so far and has been fouled an average of 2.5 times per game. In Grealish’s two Premier League games this season he’s also been fouled an average of 2.5 times per game. So it bodes well that Aina will commit two or more fouls given that he’s been averaging 1.5 per game across four matches this season, against far less dangerous opposition.
Man City -1
We’re also taking Man City -1 on the handicap. City have won 17 of their last 19 Premier League games at the Etihad and they’ve scored six goals in two league games at home this season.
Since the start of last season they would have won 14 Premier League home games with a -1 handicap out of a possible 20. Nottingham Forest aren’t a bad team but this Man City team are from another planet and should be far too good for Steve Cooper’s men.
In this London derby we’re going to be backing Both Teams to Score. Neither team are supreme goal scorers but they’ve averaged at least one goal per game so far this season. We’ve also seen Fulham play with the handbrake off on the road, scoring in all three away games, while also conceding seven goals on their travels.
We’ve seen enough from Luton this season to already know how difficult it’s going to be for them to stay in the Premier League. However, if they are to stay up then it’s going to require Kenilworth Road becoming a fortress. That means a ferocious atmosphere from the crowd and tough-tackling from the players.
Marvelous Nakamba is more than ready for that assignment, in four games he’s already picked up a pair of yellow cards and has been averaging 1.8 fouls per game. In front of a rowdy crowd and playing in the centre of the park, we should see him commit at least one foul.
Pedro Neto to Score or Assist
Wolves were many people’s trip for the drop this season and although they head into the Premier League weekend in 16th they’ve actually played pretty well in parts. They may have only picked up three points but they have already played both Liverpool and Manchester United and were hugely unlucky to be robbed of a penalty to equalise against Utd at the end of the game.
Amongst the standouts for Wolves has been Pedro Neto with the 23-year old Portuguese thriving under Gary O’Neil. He’s been an attacking menace from either flank and has four assists in five Premier League games so far this season. He’s also averaging two shots per game, behind only striker Matheus Cunha for Wolves. He’s going to break his goal drought soon so we’ll be backing him to either score or continue his brilliant assist record.
