Wednesday 8pm: Bayern Munich v Manchester United
UEFA Champions League Group A match at The Allianz Arena
TV: TNT Sports 2
The Draw
It might seem nonsensical to back against Bayern Munich when they are up against such a shambolic Manchester United side, but it must be remembered that Bayern, under Thomas Tuchel, are not great either. Their record since he took over is passable at best.
The Bundesliga champions have won just nine out of 17 games since the ex-Chelsea man took the reins in March, meekly crashing out of the Champions League and German Cup as well. They also did their best to hand the league title to Borussia Dortmund, who passed up on the opportunity on the final day of the season with the bottle job of all bottle jobs.
Bayern are unbeaten in the league this season, but they dropped points against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday night and needed a late winner to seal a come-from-behind win against a poor Borussia Monchengladbach side. They were also ripped apart by RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup at the start of the season.
United, on the other hand, have been abysmal and plumbed new depths in their 3-1 defeat against Brighton, although it is somewhat overlooked that Erik Ten Hag’s side were good in the first half and unlucky to be behind at the break. There should be a reaction following their second half collapse and they may just surprise a few people with a Draw in Germany.
Both Teams To Score
One thing is almost guaranteed on Wednesday night – Manchester United are going to concede at least one goal. Ten Hag’s side have now conceded 10 goals in their last four league games and boast the second-worst defensive record in the Premier League.
Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro – two of their most important defensive players last year – are horrendously out of form, while another injury to Raphael Varane has not helped matters.
Bayern, with Harry Kane leading the line, should have no problem breaching the United defence on Wednesday. At the other end, United have managed to score in all but one of their league games this season despite their poor performances and should cause problems for a Bayern defence that has only managed one clean sheet in five games this season so it’s Both Teams To Score.

Harry Kane to Score Anytime
Harry Kane has made a quick start to life at Bayern Munich, scoring four times in four league appearances. He has scored three goals in his two home league games to date and will look to continue his impressive goal-scoring form against a porous United defence.
Kane’s record against United is actually underwhelming; the Tottenham striker has only scored five times in 19 appearances against the Red Devils and has only been on the winning side on six occasions. However, he should flourish against such an underperforming side so I’ll take Kane to Score Anytime.
Casemiro to Commit 2 Or More Fouls
It has been a difficult start to the season for Casemiro. Some of it is not his fault; the Brazilian midfielder has often been left exposed in the United midfield and has subsequently been outnumbered and overran.
At the same time, Casemiro has looked miles off the pace. He has been sluggish and does not look like the same player that helped guide United to a Champions League finish last season and doesn’t even resemble the player who was a lynchpin in Real Madrid’s Champions League-winning midfield.
He averages a foul per game in the league and it is genuinely surprising that that figure is not higher. He may be forced into several fouls against Bayern on Wednesday so we’ll take Casemiro to Commit 2 Or More Fouls.
Bruno Fernandes To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target
Bruno Fernandes took a lot of unwarranted flak from United supporters following United’s loss to Brighton, which seems unfair considering he has been their best player for three years. Fernandes has had a mixed start to the season, inspiring the comeback against Nottingham Forest but also missing a sitter against Tottenham when the game was still 0-0.
He has attempted three shots per game for United this season and is probably the most likely United player to make something happen on Wednesday. Fernandes is good value To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target.
