We’ve survived another international break and the Premier League is back with a bang this weekend as Wolves host Liverpool to get game week five underway in Saturday’s early game. There’s a host of matches at 3pm too, and an interesting clash on the box in the evening with Newcastle taking on Brentford at St James’ Park

There’s two games on Sunday with the madcap Chelsea taking on Bournemouth on the south coast before Everton put up the barricades ahead of the arrival of Arsenal at 4.30pm. Nottingham Forest and Burnley then take centre stage to close out the weekend with a little bit of Monday Night Football.

So, with the weekend hurling towards us once again, there’s no time to waste and it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson who will be battling it out with a Paddy punter in our Challenge Lawro game. But first, here’s what Lawro’s crystal ball has revealed this weekend.

Saturday 12.30pm: Wolves v Liverpool

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

I think Liverpool will win. I’m not sure how they’ll line up defensively because Virgil van Dijk’s suspended, although they were really good in their last game against Aston Villa. Wolves are struggling and lost to Crystal Palace last time so I’ll go for Liverpool. Wolves 1-2 Liverpool.

Saturday 3pm: Aston Villa v Crystal Palace

This is a tough one. I’m going to go for a home win because of the manager Unai Emery as much as anything. They just never got going against Liverpool but I don’t see that happening against Palace. Aston Villa 2-0 Crystal Palace.

Saturday 3pm: Fulham v Luton

Luton battled against West Ham last time but they’re just still a little bit short in terms of quality. I’ll go with a comfortable Fulham win. Fulham 2-0 Luton.

Saturday 3pm: Manchester United v Brighton

This is very tricky for Manchester United because they’re going to have to get the ball off of Brighton which is very, very tricky as we know. Brighton had a fab win against Newcastle and could have won by more. I’m actually going to go for a home win. It’s just like Manchester United to turn out a decent display and I’m looking forward to seeing Rasmus Hojlund play again. It’ll be interesting to see how he does as he looked good against Arsenal. Manchester United 2-1 Brighton.

Saturday 3pm: Tottenham v Sheffield United

Ange Postecoglou has done well, hasn’t he? He’s got Tottenham playing fast, attractive, football. They play Sheffield United who could and should have beaten Everton in the last time but Tottenham look good at home. Tottenham 2-0 Sheffield United.

Saturday 3pm: West Ham v Manchester City

I’m going to have a draw in this game actually. If you said that to David Moyes right now he’d snap your hand off. They way they set up is very much focused on trying not to concede and making it very difficult so I’ll go for a draw. West Ham 1-1 Manchester City.

Saturday 5.30pm: Newcastle v Brentford

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Newcastle were taken apart at home to Brighton but I think the rot might stop here. Brentford are a good counter-attacking team and we know they’re very, very strong with lots of pace. I’m going to go with Newcastle to win this. Newcastle 2-1 Brentford.

Sunday 2pm: Bournemouth v Chelsea

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Chelsea are still finding their feet and they should have got something against Nottingham Forest. Bournemouth should have won at Brentford as well, but that’s a lot of should haves and would haves. I’m going to go for Chelsea, just. Bournemouth 0-1 Chelsea.

Sunday 4.30pm: Everton v Arsenal

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

The only good thing for Everton is that it looks like they’re going to be bought out but might take a while to go through. But, here, I can’t see anything other than a big Arsenal win. Everton 0-3 Arsenal.

Monday 7.45pm: Nottingham Forest v Burnley

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

I’m going to go for Nottingham Forest to get the points here, their result at Chelsea was excellent and you could tell by the way they celebrated it was a big win for them. They look different, they look better than last year already and defensively they’re quite good. Burnley got taken apart by Tottenham I just don’t see them coming here and getting a win because they’re very, very open. Nottingham Forest 2-1 Burnley.

So you’ve heard what Lawro has to say and, all throughout the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, Paddy’s going to be dishing out free bets to his shop customers who can out-shout our mighty game-guessing guru each and every match day.
