When you think of Saturday night, what do you think of? Presumably the regret you feel almost immediately on a Sunday morning, or maybe even Whigfield? For me, it’s long been about thinking of the most creative illness I can in order for my friends to feel a sense of relief that I won’t be around, rather than them thinking I’m under the thumb.

Luckily, the Guinness Book of World Records haven’t popped around yet to confirm I’m the only man in the history of civilization to contract measles, mumps, rubella, the common cold, the flu, malaria, shingles, chicken pox aged thirty-one and rigor mortis in successive weekends.

But now, people are seeing my sense and enjoying a quiet night in with the football. And I salute you dear friends – we are the children of the revolution.

7.45pm: Cardiff City v Swansea – Both Teams to Score

EFL Championship clash at Cardiff City Stadium
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

There’s a Welsh village called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. That’s not me trying to suggest it’s a betting key or anything, but it does indeed act as a fun break mid-piece for you to practice pronouncing it.

And if you think that’s a bit hectic, wait until you watch the two Welsh teams in the English Football League.

Swansea have persisted with their ethos through multiple managers, and somehow still play vey attractive football. Of course there comes a point where fans are so sick of the ghost of Leroy Fer, that they just want to win the odd game.

Well, the way in which both of these teams set up means that neither has any form of defensive control on a game. If Swansea lose possession, they’re a mess off the ball. If Cardiff lose possession, they’ve committed too many bodies forward. I fancy Both Teams To Score.

7.45pm: Genoa v Napoli – Napoli to Win

Serie A clash at Luigi Ferraris Stadium
TV: TNT Sport 1

The signing of the summer in Serie A was Mateo Retegui. I’ve actually got no idea how they managed to lure him into their grasp but he’s there now.

Come to think of it, I’m struggling to remember a newly-promoted side from Serie B who weren’t just pumped with short-term money make any signing of a similar magnitude. Good on them.

Matters not, ultimately – Napoli were undone by Lazio through their lightning-quick counters; something that Genoa certainly don’t possess, so Napoli To Win has a great chance.

8pm: Barcelona v Real Betis – Both Teams to Score? No

La Liga match at Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium
TV: Viaplay Sports1

Barcelona have conceded as many goals this season as they had done in their first fourteen league games of last season. They’ve spoken frequently about returning to what made them considerably better than Real last year – because right now, they very much are in the shadow of a post-teenager from Birmingham.

Betis look incredibly lethargic in front of goal, and only a free kick from Willian Jose handed them a one-nil win over Rayo last week. That’s unstainable so Barcelona to Win and Both Teams To Score? No is the way to go.

10pm: Atlanta v Inter Miami – Inter Miami to Win

MLS clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
TV: Apple TV

Not to be *that* guy, but do you really want to be on your last leg here betting against Lionel Messi to run rings around borderline semi-professional footballers in Georgia?

I jest of course, but sometimes teams simply aren’t opposable and given the run that Inter are on post-Messi’s arrival, they’re very difficult to play against, especially as half the home stadium will be there just to see the little man.

And every revolution needs to be funded, does it not? Here’s a multi-game Bet Builder to keep your attention longer than a Christopher Nolan opening sequence. We’re rounding off with Inter Milan to Win.
