Monday 7.45pm: Latvia v Wales
EURO 2024 Qualifier at Skonto Stadium, Latvia
TV: S4C and Viaplay Sports 1
Wales to win
Wales come into this one as favourites which feels fortunate given some of their performances so far in Group D. That said, they face a Latvian team who are yet to pick up a point in this competition and have shipped a lot of goals, scoring just three times.
The Welsh team are still undergoing a rebuild following the end of the Gareth Bale era and, although Robert Page’s team are yet to really find their new identity, the reality is that they are superior to this Latvian team and should get three points even on the road. The reverse of this fixture back in March saw Wales win 1-0 and we should see another Welsh victory here.
Under 2.5 goals
There was just one goal scored when these two last met and that’s part of the reason that we’ll be backing Under 2.5 Goals in this game. Between these two teams there’s been just seven goals scored and both sides lack true fire power. They might also have leaky defences but I can’t see either side pressuring them enough for this game to become a high scoring matchup.

Brennan Johnson to score
New Spurs forward Brennan Johnson is the danger man for Wales and his £47.5m price tag gives you an indication of the talent that he has. Last time Tottenham had a dangerous, pacy Welsh forward it worked out well for the national team and although Johnson isn’t at the level of Gareth Bale, he is still the biggest threat on the pitch.
His speed and directness is a menace for opposition defenders but he’s yet to get off the mark in this qualifying campaign, however that has every chance of ending against a Latvia defence who will struggle against his attributes. I fancy Brennan Johnson to Score Anytime.
Both teams to score? No
This game stinks of being a low scoring encounter, hence backing Under 2.5 goals, but I just can’t see Latvia scoring. They’ve managed just the three goals in qualifying and, while Wales aren’t the best at the back, they’ll have enough to keep them out. With Robert Page setting his team up for a tough road game it’s likely we won’t see expansive football from Wales, meaning that they should be solid at the back and looking to ensure that they don’t get scored against easily.
