Tuesday night has a whole host of EFL Trophy games lined up. We’ve looked through the stats and form to find seven value picks from five of the best fixtures on offer.

Kosovo v Switzerland

Stadiumi Fadil Vokrri, Pristina, 7:45pm

Both Teams to Score
Switzerland are odds-on to take the three points on offer here which will mean they’ll keep at least two points between themselves and Romania in second place. The hosts have proven tough to beat of late though, losing just one of their last seven although they only won one of them, drawing the other five and as such should be good for a goal against a Swiss side who don’t keep many clean sheets.

Switzerland to Win
Even though they don’t keep many clean sheets, the Swiss have won four of their last six fixtures, drawing one and losing one. They just simply have the better players with far more experience in better leagues and in European competition. Hard to see them not taking the three points.

North Macedonia v Italy

Tose Proeski Arena, 7:45pm
TV: Viaplay

Both Teams to Score, No
Roberto Mancini couldn’t resist the Saudi money so in comes former Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti fresh from guiding them to their first Serie A title since the days of Diego Maradona. Spalletti inherits a team who have seriously underwhelmed since their 2021 Euros triumph. Spalletti built his free-flowing Napoli side on a strong defence and he’s called up plenty of experienced defenders for both of Gli Azzurri’s games. They certainly have the talent to keep a clean sheet and we think they will.

Federico Chiesa to Score
Spalletti loves a wide man that cuts in too and we’re likely going to see Juventus’ Frederico Chiesa coming in to support Ciro Immobile up top. Lazio’s Immobile has only scored one league goal so far this season while the Old Lady’s Chiesa has two but in averaging just shy of two shots on target per game we reckon he’s more likely to get on the scoresheet.

Romania v Israel

Arena Nationala, Bucharest, 7:45pm
TV: Viaplay

Romania to Win
Romania are two points behind Switzerland and will be banking on taking three points here. The hosts have now gone five games without defeat, while on home soil have won three and lost two, scoring eight and conceding seven.

Israel are pretty awful on the road, winning just two of their last nine away games and they were against Belarus and Albania. If Malta and Switzerland can comfortably beat Israel on home soil, Romania can certainly do the same.

Germany v Japan

Volkswagen Arena, 7:45pm
TV: Viaplay

Both Teams to Score
Yes, Hansi Flick is still German manager after he clung on to his job after Germany’s embarrassing World Cup exit in the Group stage. Spain and Japan qualified from their group so the home side will be after a wee bit of revenge here. However, they’ve not been very good since then, they’ve lost to Belgium, Poland and Colombia, drew with Ukraine and beat Peru.

Japan, of course, beat Germany at the World Cup, and Spain too before going out to Croatia on penalties. Since then they’ve also lost to Colombia, drew with Uruguay, smashed El Salvador 6-0 and, like Die Mannschaft, also beat Peru. We’d almost be tempted to go with Japan here but with the Germans scoring seven over their last four home games and Japan scoring in 17 of their last 20 away games, Both Teams to Score has the better value.
