The Draw
Celtic and Rangers have made stuttering starts to the season, with Celtic crashing out of the League Cup and drawing at home against St. Johnstone and Rangers losing their season opener at Kilmarnock before being thumped by PSV in the Champions League play-off.
Both sides could, therefore, do with a win in the Old Firm before the international break, but it is hard to back either side at the moment.
Rangers beat Celtic 3-0 in the last meeting between the two sides, but Celtic had already wrapped up the league title and it meant little.
Celtic won four of the other five Old Firms last season, beating Rangers in the League Cup final and the Scottish FA Cup semi-final.
However, they do not look the same team since Ange Postecoglou’s departure and Brendan Rodgers will have his work cut out to secure Celtic’s third league title in a row this season.
With both sides stuttering at present, a draw looks the most likely result on Sunday.
Kyogo Furuhashi to Score Anytime
Kyogo seems to love playing against Rangers.
The Japanese forward scored five goals in Old Firms last season and is by far the most likely Celtic player to find the back of the net on Sunday.
Kyogo finished as Celtic’s top scorer last season with 34 goals in all competitions, scoring at least twice as many goals as any other Celtic player.
He has already scored two goals in three league games this season, scoring in Celtic’s wins over Ross County and Aberdeen.
Celtic will be hoping that Kyogo can continue his excellent form against Rangers on Sunday.
Over 5.5 Cards
Celtic and Rangers were the two best-disciplined sides in Scotland last season, but that was not the case when they faced off against each other.
A total of 30 cards were issued in six Old Firms last season at an average of five cards per game.
It wouldn’t be surprising at all if Sunday’s game was similarly bad-tempered.
With both sides in desperate need of a result, Sunday’s Old Firm is likely to be full-blooded and there should be more than a few crunching tackles.
Referees in Scotland also appear to be following the lead of their counterparts in England, issuing 76 cards in 18 games so far this season at an average of over four per game.
That average should rise after Sunday’s Old Firm.

Over 9.5 Corners
Celtic and Rangers are by far the most attack-minded sides in Scotland.
The two sides boast the highest possession averages in the league, with Celtic averaging 72.4% per game and Rangers averaging 67.7%.
They have also attempted the most shots, with Celtic attempting an average of 17.7 shots per game and Rangers averaging 21.3 shots.
They are likely to attack each other on Sunday and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a high number of corners at Ibrox.
Celtic have won 32 corners in their opening three games at an average of over 10 corners per game, while Rangers have won 21 corners in three games at a rate of exactly seven per game.
They won’t reach such high figures on Sunday, but they should reach a minimum of 10 corners combined.
Todd Cantwell to be Shown a Card
Rangers have only collected two yellow cards in three league games this season, but they have been far less disciplined in Champions League qualifying, accumulating seven bookings in four games.
Celtic are far more similar in quality to the teams in Champions League qualifying than the rest of the Scottish Premiership, so it is fair to assume that Rangers will be on the receiving end of more bookings on Sunday.
Todd Cantwell is responsible for two of Rangers’ seven bookings in Europe this season and averages a foul per game in the Scottish Premiership.
He is decent value to pick up his first Premiership booking of the season in what should be a feisty game at Ibrox.
